The Moog DFAM, short for Drummer From Another Mother, is a semi-modular percussive analog synthesizer with endless flexibility for the modern electronic musician. Two oscillators can be blended together and tweaked using the three voltage-controlled envelopes, along with high and low pass filters. The powerhouse 8-step sequencer has knobs for velocity and pitch control, allowing for extremely flexible control over dynamics. Crank up the noise knob to get some of those gritty synth sounds Moog is famous for.
How does the DFAM fit into the Mother ecosystem?
This new Moog synthesizer can be stacked in a 2-tier rack or 3-tier rack with other DFAMs or the Mother-32. The 24-point patch bay can be used to further manipulate sounds. Eurorack capabilities make this synth just one piece of a growing synth ecosystem.
Who is the DFAM made for?
Whether you’re an expert or a beginner in the synth world, the Moog DFAM is a great piece of gear to pick up. For beginners, the DFAM provides the opportunity right out of the box to experiment with rhythmic sounds, high and low pass filters, and to learn about how oscillators affect your sound. While many synths need a patch to be heard, the DFAM being semi-modular means that you don’t have to do anything but turn it on to get sound. For the more experienced, the DFAM can be removed from its case and added to your Eurorack system, expanding the sonic possibilities.
