Breedlove namesake Kim Breedlove is the master luthier and artist of the company and is supported by other highly skilled luthiers whose dedication and passion is apparent in the quality of each instrument they create. Uncompromising traditional craftsmanship, innovation, environmental consciousness and customer focus are at the core of the Breedlove philosophy.
Since 1990, Breedlove has been building acoustic guitars their own way, carefully melding the time-tested traditional methods with modern engineering and ingenuity in an effort to build some of the most exquisite acoustic guitars and mandolins in the world.
In the early '90s Breedlove began experimenting with the JLD bridge truss system and this bracing technique's effect on balance, sustain, resonance and bass, creating the “Original Breedlove Sound.” In 1991, the first Breedlove guitar appeared in stores across the country. It was then that this tiny company started building a reputation for quality instruments that broke the barriers between traditional construction and modern innovation. In the last two decades, the craftsmen at Breedlove have created many extraordinary instruments that are renowned for their unique aesthetic and amazing tone.
Today's Breedlove guitars are built from hand-selected, naturally aged tonewoods from the Northwest and around the world and they offer the widest selection of non-traditional building materials in the industry. Many of their unique instruments boast impressive custom inlay work and an extraordinary range of body configurations and appointment upgrades.
