Blending fearless attitude with full-throttle performance, the Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T chambered electric guitar is a high-octane ode to the iconoclastic café racer culture of the 1960s. Beneath its sleek retro-chic aesthetic lies a chambered mahogany body topped with maple for lively resonance with a lightweight feel. A carbon fiber-reinforced three-piece maple neck provides rock-solid stability and sleek playability, while dual P90-style single-coils with a push/pull Focus Switch deliver classic growl with modern flexibility. A Tune-o-matic bridge with a racing-inspired tailpiece rounds out the package with vintage flair, making the Revstar Standard RSS02T a timeless choice for demanding modern performers.

Chambered Mahogany Body With Maple Top for Lively Resonance

The RSS02T’s chambered mahogany body and maple top team up to deliver both warmth and definition, offering a tonal character that’s equally suited to both clean articulation and gritty overdrive. Yamaha’s unique Acoustic Design process optimizes the internal chambering for maximum resonance and balance, while keeping the instrument lightweight and comfortable for extended play. The maple top adds crisp attack and visual flair, resulting in a guitar that looks as dynamic as it sounds. Whether you’re tracking in the studio or hitting the stage, the RSS02T’s body design enhances tone, comfort and sustain in equal measure.

Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Mahogany Neck for Rock-Solid Stability

Built for effortless playability and long-term reliability, the Revstar Standard RSS02T’s three-piece mahogany neck is reinforced with carbon fiber for exceptional stability in any setting. The satin finish feels smooth and fast under your fingers, while the rosewood fretboard provides a rich tonal contrast and a touch of classic elegance. With a comfortable medium profile and 22 precisely dressed frets, the neck offers the perfect blend of traditional feel and modern refinement. Whether you’re digging into expressive bends or complex chord work, the Revstar’s neck is engineered for performance you can count on night after night.

P90-Style Pickups With Focus Switch for Dynamic Versatility

The RSS02T’s dual P90-style single-coil pickups deliver a wide tonal palette—from chiming cleans to growling overdrive—with the kind of dynamic response that rewards expressive playing. A five-way switch provides access to unique phase combinations in positions 2 and 4, creating airy, articulate tones ideal for rhythm and lead work alike. The push/pull Focus Switch acts as a passive boost, tightening lows and mids for a more aggressive, overwound character. It’s a versatile setup that covers everything from vintage jangle to punchy modern rock, all with unmistakable Revstar attitude.

Vintage-Inspired Hardware and Premium Appointments

Every detail of the Revstar Standard RSS02T has been designed to perform as beautifully as it looks. The Tune-o-matic bridge ensures stable intonation and solid sustain, while the custom racing-inspired tailpiece nods to the café racer heritage that inspired the model’s aesthetic. The gloss body finish contrasts perfectly with the satin neck for a professional feel and sleek appearance. Yamaha’s signature hanko stamp on the back of the headstock—a mark traditionally used in Japan as a personal seal—serves as a reminder that each Revstar is built with pride and precision.

A Timeless Guitar Built for Modern Expression

The Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T chambered electric guitar embodies the perfect balance of tradition and innovation. Its P90-style pickups, chambered construction and high-performance neck make it an incredibly versatile instrument for rock, blues and beyond. came with excellent set up but I lowered the action a bit more, tones are wide ranging with an extra boost with the push/pull knob and five way selector, I can't compare it to higher end guitars but it can't get much better for this price.

  • Perfect in every way!

I've had custom shop Strats... Teles... SGs... Les Pauls... Jazzmasters... 335s... Gretchs... and PRS Custom 24s. They were all great - but this Yamaha puts them all to shame. The neck will feel like it was made from a mold of your hand. The fit and finish is flawless. The array of sounds from the 5-way switch in combination with the passive boost (it even works with wireless) is incredible. Simply put - it's the best guitar I've even owned at any price.

Are the Revstars with P90's more popular with experienced Players?

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
Yamaha Revstar guitars with P90 pickups tend to appeal more to experienced players than beginners, but popularity can depend on the context and personal taste. Here’s why experienced players often gravitate toward them: P90s have a unique tone – P90 pickups sit tonally between humbuckers and single coils: they’re punchy, raw, and articulate with a slightly gritty edge. Experienced players who’ve already played traditional pickup styles (like Strat single coils or Les Paul humbuckers) often seek out P90s for their distinctiveness. Revstars have a boutique feel at a mid-range price – The fit, finish, and design of the Revstar series—especially the Professional (Japan-made) and Standard models—often appeal to players who appreciate nuance in build quality and playability. Not typically a first guitar – Beginners tend to buy more mainstream or versatile options. The P90-equipped Revstars are more niche, making them a common “second” or “third” guitar for someone wanting a specific tonal palette. Styling and tone versatility – Revstars, especially with P90s, attract players in genres like blues, indie, garage rock, or alternative where that slightly aggressive, mid-forward tone fits well. That said, some adventurous beginners do choose them, especially if they’re guided by a teacher or mentor with experience.

How much does this guitar weight

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 7 - 7.5 lbs
