Yamaha

collapse expand iconDescription

Yamaha's Revstar Standard RSS02T is an innovative electric guitar offering comfortable playability and a range of organic tones. Its chambered mahogany body with a striking maple top reduces weight while enhancing resonance. The carbon-reinforced mahogany neck provides stability and accessibility to higher frets. Outfitted with two Yamaha VP5 P-90 pickups, this double-cutaway guitar produces crisp cleans and an aggressive bite when overdriven.

Focus Switch Sculpts Your Sound

A passive push-pull "Focus Switch" on the Revstar RSS02T shifts the resonant frequency to shape your tone. Engage the switch to amplify the power and cut of the VP5 pickups for a punchier, more articulate sound ideal for solos or rhythm playing. Disengage the switch for warmer, fuller tones perfect for chording or jazzier styles.

Classic Design With Modern Refinements

The Revstar RSS02T updates the retro café racer-inspired style of Yamaha's original Revstar series with a sleek tailpiece and racing-stripe finishes. Its 12" fingerboard radius and jumbo stainless steel frets provide a familiar feel for shredding leads or complex chords. The 5-way pickup selector offers a range of single-coil tones from glassy neck pickup sounds to a throaty bridge pickup growl.

Premium Components and Construction

Yamaha's dedication to quality is evident in the Revstar RSS02T's solid build and high-performance components. Its set mahogany neck is reinforced for stability while remaining lightweight, with a rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets. The tune-o-matic bridge anchors the strings, enabling precise intonation adjustments. Premium die-cast tuners help this axe stay in tune through dynamic playing styles.

came with excellent set up but I lowered the action a bit more, tones are wide ranging with an extra boost with the push/pull knob and five way selector, I can't compare it to higher end guitars but it can't get much better for this price.

  • Nice addition to my collection

Nice guitar, mine came with, what looks like excess dried glue where the neck and body are joined near the neck pickup on the top of the guitar. Stainless steel frets are great, but treble side frets are sharp. Bass side frets are okay. Action was a bit high, but easily adjusted. Satin neck is very nice and feels great. Sounds great and has a great retro look to it. The Merlot color is classy looking. This is my first guitar with P90s, so I'm still having fun getting used to those. Very nice guitar!

  • Incredible value, but stands on its own is a great guitar.

I have a bunch of guitars and I've pretty much gravitated towards Les Pauls. And my favorite pickup is P90. I have 14 guitars, and this guitar is one of the least expensive yet it's one of my top two or three. The neck is perfect, the sound is awesome, I just absolutely love it. And that's saying something considering that I have Gibsons, Suhr, Rickenbacker, PRS, Fender, etc, and they all cost more than this guitar. But this guitar isn't just a great value, it's a fantastic guitar standing completely on its own. I'd put it up against anything regardless of price. Fantastic job Yamaha. #sweepstakes

I really love the way it plays. The satin finish of the neck and the fret board radius works for me. I like the idea of the stainless steel frets but really can't say they feel any different? The P90's offer remarkable tone. I use the boost and the out of phase switching on the 5 way selector. I did add some foam under both pickups in order to set the height correctly. This is my current favorite/go to guitar and my collection numbers 26 now... I know, but quality abounds in the guitar world these days and prices are amazing.

  • An excellent all 'round guitar

All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 7 - 7.5 lbs
