Best pick for live and recording

I play technical death metal professionally which requires a lot of picking hand speed and aggressive pick attack for both live and recording situations. The tone required for my genre requires plenty gain saturation while also having clarity of each note shine through the mix. The traditional .88mm Tortex picks were my go to for tracking but they were very difficult to play live and relaxed. I used the FLOW Ultex picks live for the comfort and more surface area than Jazz III picks for better control but they have that annoying chirp sound in the pick attack that makes the clarity of the note weaken, especially in a recorded mix it becomes obvious. When they made the Tortex Flow it combined the best of both world into one and I now have the ease of playing from the shape of the rounded edge as the sharp tip along with the Tortex material that allows for the best pick tonality you can get.

Not what I wanted

These Flow picks are not the Dunlop Tortex of old. They are smaller then the normal size. Beware.

I first discovered the Dunlap Tortex while playing my electrics and wanted something a little thinner to play rhythm on my acoustic. These do it. They are, however, just a tiny bit smaller than my other pics (including Tortex) and it's enough to notice so I'm subtracting a star

  • Easy to use guitar pick!
