Best pick for live and recording

I play technical death metal professionally which requires a lot of picking hand speed and aggressive pick attack for both live and recording situations. The tone required for my genre requires plenty gain saturation while also having clarity of each note shine through the mix. The traditional .88mm Tortex picks were my go to for tracking but they were very difficult to play live and relaxed. I used the FLOW Ultex picks live for the comfort and more surface area than Jazz III picks for better control but they have that annoying chirp sound in the pick attack that makes the clarity of the note weaken, especially in a recorded mix it becomes obvious. When they made the Tortex Flow it combined the best of both world into one and I now have the ease of playing from the shape of the rounded edge as the sharp tip along with the Tortex material that allows for the best pick tonality you can get.

Turned out to be a little small in my grip and a little weak on my acoustic, but a very good product. Will stop in for the same style in heavy and slightly larger.

The tortes flow picks are genuinely perfect. They blend a great size for strumming with the articulation of a jazz 3 point making it easy to pick single notes

I first decided to try these after seeing a video with Brandon Ellis, of TBDM. Makes speed picking and string skipping way smoother. You do sacrifice a little bite from the rounded shape, but the gains are well worth it. Great for fast, heavy players!
