    I have played off and on since high school. My daughter is learning alto sax and was ready to step up from 2.5 Ricos to a 3.0 jazz reed. GC was out of green Java and I saw the Royals. I played Rico Royals in high school sometimes but preferred La Voz for consistency. I usually had to pitch 2-3 reeds in a box of ten back then. I tried breaking in one for my daughter and I was really impressed! Great core tone, rounder than I remember, with excellent expression. All four that she's rotating through are "good ones," too! They're still filed reeds, meaning the tips will chip very easily if you're not careful. But for intermediate to advanced players these are a good buy!
