10" FX TRASHFORMER

Zildjian Drum Set Cymbals 101

14" FX TRASHFORMER

8" FX TRASHFORMER

Description
The Zildjian ZXT Trashformer Cymbal, an effects cymbal bred to be audaciously unapologetic. This 8" cymbal was initially rejected by Zildjian's quality control team for its warped profile and unusual patina, until Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini discovered its delightfully disruptive sound. The Trashformer cymbal adds a splash of chaos to your kit with its trashy, metallic explosion of sound.
A Cymbal as Defiant as Your Playing
The ZXT Trashformer cymbal forges its own path with a finish that varies from cymbal to cymbal, creating a spectrum of color to match its broad range of tones. Its warped shape and raw, unlathed surface give each strike a snarling bite. Play it alone for a china-like accent or stack it on a crash cymbal for a burst of jagged, trashy energy to punctuate your playing. For drummers marching to the beat of their own drum, the Trashformer cymbal is the perfect companion.
Discover a Cymbal as Unconventional as Your Sound
Zildjian's quality control team initially dismissed the Trashformer cymbal for its eccentric qualities, but one playtest with Mangini revealed it to be a diamond in the rough. His enthusiastic reception of its unruly, gritty voice led Zildjian to embrace this rebel cymbal. The Trashformer cymbal is too unorthodox for most traditional cymbal lines but finds a natural home with experimental drummers crafting their own signature sound.
Short, Fiery Bursts of Metallic Energy
Weighing in at just 8", the Trashformer cymbal makes a big impression with its abrasive, trashy tone and quick, energetic bursts of sound. Its small size allows rapid, articulate playing, while its raw, unlathed surface and uneven profile give each strike a jagged, metallic bite. The Trashformer cymbal cuts through the mix with its piercing, trashy sound, ideal for punk, metal and grunge styles.
Discover Your Sound with the ZXT Trashformer
The Zildjian ZXT Trashformer Cymbal 8" invites drummers to forge their own path with an effects cymbal as unconventional as their sound. Initially discovered by Mike Mangini, this raw, unlathed cymbal produces quick, fiery explosions of trashy, metallic sound. Play it alone or stack it on another cymbal to add chaos to your kit. The Trashformer cymbal is ready to help you discover your sound.

Beauty in the form of Trash
To be honest, I stumbled across this cymbal when I was fourteen and wanted to get as many cymbals on my kit as humanly possible. I saw that it was remarkably cheap for a Zildjian cymbal and bought it on a whim. At first, I didn't care for the little disgusting-looking cymbal that arrived in the mail, but as soon as I got used to it, I began writing drum parts centered entirely around it. It makes for incredible accents to any part and if you're playing with a band that's particularly heavy or sludgy sounding, this brash and deceptively powerful cymbal cuts right through those droning rhythm guitar parts. It is a cheap, but incredibly effective addition to any set where a little bit of trash never hurt anyone.

Too Fragile...
Let's Face it, the Zildjian ZXT Trashformer cymbal is amazing! but look at it's shape... If you're planning on bringing it anywhere- Well, Forget it because hairline cracks will form on the cymbal. It's deformed shape gives it amazing and stellar sounds but man it dies way too easily. On my way to the studio i brang this thing in a cymbal bag and as soon as i got there it was cracked. I fullfilled the warranty once, and it broke again over the course of 2 years and Zildjian wont replace it. They've lost my buisiness.. This cymbal is too much of a gamble to buy- I guess if you buy it, plan on using it as an accent (which the 14" is not made to do)...

I have it stacked under a 16 inch s trash crash, and the two combined are quickly replacing my k custom hybrid china. It's nice being able to get a washy/trashy sound that doesn't have any sustain. It sounds good as well with most of my crashes and splashes, I wouldn't recommend buying this if you aren't planning on stacking it.
Fun.

This cymbol is good. The sound is great but it is of course it is bent which will look a little weird at first. DO NOT CLEAN THIS CYMBOL the awesome finish comes right off! Also, as soon as i got mine 10" it had about 4 lines from where it was bent, but the sound is great!

Amazing trash, good for the price. It's a really weird sound at first, honestly. But you'll get used to it. Like I said, amazing. It's just too quiet sometimes compared to my 16" A Custom Crash since they're right next to each other. Go trash!
