collapse expand iconDescription

The Zildjian 21" K Custom Hybrid Ride cymbal gives drummers a versatile instrument with a split personality. Developed with renowned jazz fusion drummer Akira Jimbo, the K Hybrid Ride features an unlathed inner half for articulation and definition and a traditionally lathed outer half for spread and crashability. The 21" size provides ample projection and complex overtones. This innovative cymbal is ideal for drummers seeking maximum versatility and tonal possibilities in both live and studio settings.

Unlathed Center Provides Crisp Attack and Bell

The unlathed, buffed center of the K Hybrid Ride offers drummers a distinct stick attack, clear bell, and controlled wash. The raw, unlathed bronze produces cutting, complex overtones with a quick decay for rhythmic articulation and maximum musicality.

Lathed Edge Increases Spread and Crash

In contrast, the lathed outer edge of the cymbal enhances spread, opens the sound, and increases crashability. The traditional Zildjian lathing technique infuses the cymbal with warmth, richness, and a wider range of tones. Drummers can move between the unlathed center and lathed edge for a diversity of sounds from the same cymbal.

Developed with Akira Jimbo for 21st Century Drummers

Zildjian developed the K Custom Hybrid series in collaboration with Akira Jimbo, a leading Japanese drum stylist, to meet the demands of modern music. Jimbo aimed to design cymbals "where brilliance and darkness co-exist," for maximum versatility. The 21" K Hybrid Ride achieves this vision, setting a new standard for expressive cymbals in the 21st century.

Premium, Innovative Cymbals from Zildjian

As part of the premium K Custom series, the 21" K Hybrid Ride is crafted from Zildjian's innovative and proprietary alloys to the highest standards of quality. This innovative ride cymbal produces a diverse palette of tones for any genre or playing style. Serious drummers will appreciate its premium quality, versatile performance, and ability to inspire new creative expressions.

Beautiful sound, great versatility!

I'm extremely pleased with my K Custom Hybrid Ride. It has a great dynamic range, as well as a fantastic tonal range that makes it very interesting to play. It's very crashable, and the bell is beautiful and powerful. I play Rock/Pop music, and this ride gives me the versatility I need to play heavier or lighter tunes. Plus, with that unique, half-lathed look, it makes my setup stand out, and wows my friends!

Very good cymbal but not for everyone

i play in a club, party, rock band. This cymbal has very low volume and does not project well. Large bell is quiet. Jazz or studio would be ideal. Beautiful cymbal with great feel though.

I've had the 21" for about 7 years now and I see no reason to switch. It's everything I want in a ride cymbal: great definition, crash-ability, great bell, enough but not too much wash.

If you play anything that would even closely resemble rock music and you don't have this ride in your vault you are missing the concept of rock music. Amazing bell, strong basher that still has stick definition. I paid them $400 and wrote this for free.😳

I own the 21" version. It is a fantastic ride cymbal with fantastic crashability. I get so many tones out of it that I can easily do a gig just with it and my hi-hats. Depending on the sticks I am using, the possibilities are huge. The bell is very powerful and cuts through beautifully while not disturbing anything.

Good ride for multiple types of music - the bell cuts through nicely and the edge has good wash and stick definition.

This cymbal was definitely a great idea with a very versatile approach. Zildjian did a pretty good job on the idea but the final result was too great. I felt like the whole cymbal sounded more or less the same. If you like the idea then i would recomend the SABIAN OMNI RIDE! This cymbal has the same idea but the versatility is way more distinctive.
