Awesome Bass!!
I am a part-time professional and I've had this bass for a few months and it still amazes. I picked it up, took it home and it was great right out of the box. I even took it to a studio session three days later, and the producer LOVED it!! I've played a Yamaha for years, but this one is awesome! There are so many tones you can dial up on it. It works for every situation. You cannot beat the value of this bass!!

Definitely Not Satisfied
Bought this Bass based on the couple reviews we saw for it. It was for my father and he has had a terrible time with it. It burned out two different mixers from two of his different bands and has been having technical difficulties with it. The way it looks is great and all but it just really wasn't worth the hassle with the inside components. We wouldn't buy it again. RIP

I wanted an affordable 5 string and after much research I found this bass. I was very surprised by the quality of the setup out of the box. Some minor adjustments and it was ready to go. I'm very impressed with Yamaha. My last two fenders where unplayable out of the box and required extensive setups. There are lots of options for tones. One of best aspects is the string spacing, Yamaha has 18mm spacing which is not that common in most 5 strings. It makes the playability much better. I highly recommend this bass.

Quite a nice 5 string bass to mess around on! The tone switch has been great to mess around with for the various styles of bass I enjoy, and the B string is super fun to slide up and down on when you get the chance! I love the red color of mine, the truss rod is easy to access and adjust, but the electronics can be a bit hard to get into without some form of pry bar. 9V batteries last a good while in her, and the tuners are very smooth and hold tone well. I do experience a bit of fret buzz, but I'm sure you could get it solved by getting someone to tune it up in shop instead of me messing with it on my own. Overall, she's a fantastic guitar! Just make sure to get her tuned up before you leave the shop, and keep a good tuner on hand when you gotta make sure that B string is just right.
Fantastic Instrument.

As a guitar player I learned strings matter for electric basses. I went with Ernie Ball strings first and the fret buzz was unacceptable. D'Addario bass strings made a significant difference. I use this instrument for home recording and couldn't be more pleased. I have the Mist Green and it looks awesome hanging on the wall when not in use.

This is an active and passive bass. My question is, do the electronics draw battery power from the 9-volt even if the guitar cord is unplugged from the bass? I've read online this model does so even if the guitar cord is not inserted into the jack. I know on typical active basses, once the guitar cord is unplugged, it will not draw power. Please clarify
