Yamaha FG830 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Natural

Description
The Yamaha FG830 dreadnought acoustic guitar delivers powerful, full-bodied tone and premium appointments for today's most discerning players. Featuring a solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides, the FG830 pumps out robust low end, sparkling highs and improved sustain. Yamaha's newly developed scalloped bracing pattern provides an ideal acoustic structure, enabling the top board to vibrate freely for maximum resonance while maintaining durability.
Solid Spruce Top Unleashes Robust, Balanced Tone
The FG830's solid spruce top is a tonewood of choice for acoustic guitars, prized for its strength, light weight and ability to produce a broad range of overtones. When paired with rosewood back and sides, the spruce top helps generate a robust, balanced tone with tight lows, warm mids and shimmering highs. The spruce and rosewood combination also provides greater depth and improved sustain.
Scalloped Bracing Enhances Projection and Playability
Yamaha's engineers developed an innovative scalloped bracing pattern for the FG830 using cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology. The non-scalloped braces provide durability while scalloped braces enable the top board to vibrate freely, producing a louder, stronger sound in the low to mid ranges. The hybrid bracing also enhances playability, making the FG830 highly responsive to a light touch.
Premium Appointments and Yamaha Craftsmanship
From its abalone soundhole rosette and binding to its satin-finished mahogany neck, the FG830 exudes premium appointments and Yamaha's legendary craftsmanship. The slim neck profile with rounded fret ends provides a comfortable playing feel for intricate fingerstyle work or aggressive strumming.

KUDOS YAMAHA
If you have 300 dollars to spend on a guitar this is it. If you have 500 dollars this is it. If you have 700 this is still it. I have no idea how Yamaha makes a guitar this good at this price. I did a lot of shopping and played a lot of guitars. I could have saved myself a lot of time by trying this first. As you can see I have an old friend that shares the same family tree. This guitar has been with me for 6 months now and may be the last acoustic guitar I own. The old one has over a 30 year history with me. If it could talk......what am I saying! It can do better than that. It can sing and it tells my life story

Not too happy!
It is not an easy guitar to play at all. It just is not…!!! Mind you that this guitar is a low action guitar and it still is not an easy guitar to play! Second, as you're moving up the fretboard, (say!) past the 7th fret, you have to press down hard on the strings for your dear life to get the notes ring out properly. If you're pressing down on the mid point on the fret, not as near to the "metal" fret as possible, FORGET IT!!!, the sound will be either dull or muffled or worse, "dead". Can you say, "The courtesy of Yahama"!? Third, I also noticed that the quality of the sound coming out of the notes diminishes as you move up the fretboard. As a newbie, you will be impressed, trying out the guitar when playing notes down the fretboard (say!) between 1st and the 7th fret. I find it "inconsistent"! Overall, it is NOT an easy guitar to play for a beginner. If I had to do it all over again, knowing that playing guitar is not just a passing fad for me, I would have gladly spent a bit more money and gotten a Taylor with much much better "playability". Maybe there is something, not quite right with my FG830. Maybe I should take it to a guitar luthier to get it looked at.

Borderline best guitar for the money. A must for a beginner who wants to "stick with it". Don't be thrown off by the only negative review, he obviously has 0 finger dexterity. I'm still a "beginner" and this guitar feels great.
Love it

I have bought a couple of (very good) acoustic guitars prior to this Yamaha FG830. In 1980 a neighbor, who served in Okinawa, sold me his 1970s model Aria country/western guitar which was an exquisite copy of a Martin D18. Many years later a Taiylor 614. And now the Yamaha FG830 for my son. Although it has a Rosewood laminate back and sides construction, the sound is exceptional. I intentionally avoided electronics for the sake of purity. This is a guitar which will serve him with a lifetime of fundamental playability and tone. Great songs have been written on lesser quality guitars, so let the future begin.

I'm a late beginner and enjoy playing cowboy chord songs. I currently have a Yamaha FS800. I enjoy the size and has been great for learning. The more I played the more I realized it was missing that full sound that only a dreadnaught gives (at least to my ear). The Yamaha delivers that sound at a great price. Thanks to Chase at the Knoxville TN store for his help.
