I would like to add a second review, months later after using the kit.. Yamaha rep says one need not tighten the clamps so much, they are designed to work with moderate twist, so perhaps we over-tightened it to the point of breaking, blame it on the roadie.. we are now folding the rack together in place to move it, leaving the harness connected and tucked up in place.. that helps.. the pads/cymbals all go into a big Gator bag; the brain (module) goes into a separate small bag with the all-important power adapter (better get a spare), the stands (high hat, kick pedal, snare stand) in another bag (watch out for the end of the high hat stand getting bent) and away we go.. takes time to dial it in like everything digital but so nice to have superior sound immediately once you do.. goodbye all those drum mikes are a thing of the past! Yamaha makes good stuff but worth it to get the DTX10PROX for the quality brain with up to 10 separate outs.. but sometimes we just keep it simple with kick, snare, and rest of kit, only 3 and it works. Designing your own kit is awesome, having the click there if you want, so nice and we're just getting started.

  • For the high price, why the cheap rack

We have done one show so far but as we were tightening up one of the rack brackets (by hand) it cracked apart. Looking inside one can see the cheaper pot metal used. I expected more from Yamaha. The worst thing is where do we get replacement brackets; GC says we're on our own, sorry.. so other than that the brain and pads seem ok, so it could be worse.
