Seymour Duncan

collapse expand iconDescription

The Seymour Duncan JB Jr Pickup is a twin-coil design that gives you the character of the JB„¢ model humbucker in a single-coil size. Its adjustable pole pieces more closely emulate the magnetic field of a full-size humbucker and allow you to fine-tune the balance of your strings: a first for a humbucker this size. You can expect great harmonics and a sweet high end from the JB Jr.

  • So a great fix for a Strat!

I had a Squire Strat with a very shrill bridge pickup. I wanted to fatten up the sound and take off some of the bite. This does that perfectly. I even paid the extra to have the pickup world to the tone pot.

  • Darker sounding than expected.

Installed easily. Definitely adds crunch that can't be had with a stock Fender single coil. But the tone is more middle with much less high end or low end than I was expecting. Tweaking pole height helped some. My Strat has 250k pots, so maybe if one were ambitious and swapped to 500k that could help? Don't get me wrong —it ain't bad at all. But it doesn't have that sharp bite that my Ibanez or Gibson guitars have.

  • The best!

Put this in the bridge position in our SVR Strat with a EVH 500k pot and hot wired punk rock one knob eddie style ( as we do with all of them). Forget about it! Your done man...Go shred em. Great clean and greater through boss metal zone pedal. Your done. simple rig.

Replaced my Seymour Duncan vintage strat 1 bridge pickup that has never given me the full sound that I wanted with this. Very happy. Now I can get that smooth humbucker sound with distortion that I have been looking for.

I put this into the bridge of my daily beater strat, a Fender Jimi Hendrix model, the recent one. Makes this a very versatile guitar that can do it all now with very usable heavy overdriven sounds from the bridge pickup. Installation was a breeze and it soldered right into the same locations that the stock up came out of. Only downside is it is WHITE and the stock plastics are an aged looking crème color, not a huge deal but would have rather have had the option to match color.

Not without some routing. In a case like this we recommend having a qualified guitar tech look at the guitar
