Description
The Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Humbucker Pickup Set delivers the raw, rebellious sound that defined Texas blues-rock. Modeled after the pickups in a legendary 1959 Les Paul, the Pearly Gates set provides vintage PAF tone with an extra kick of output and clarity that cuts through the mix. The neck pickup has a warm, rounded tone, while the bridge pickup adds snarl and bite. Together, they produce fat, articulate tone with airy highs and warm springy lows. The Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Humbucker Pickup Set gives you classic rock and blues tone that's ready to take the stage.
Vintage-Inspired Design, Modern Versatility
The Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Humbucker Pickup Set starts with the warm, organic tone of a 1959 PAF humbucker and updates it for contemporary players. The pickups feature Alnico II magnets and moderate output that provides vintage-style sustain and compression along with excellent string definition. Four-conductor wiring gives you access to multiple tonal options, from parallel to series to tapped coils. This versatility allows the Pearly Gates set to excel for blues, rock and hard rock styles.
Fat Neck Tone, Snarling Bridge Sound
The Pearly Gates neck pickup has a full, rounded tone that's ideal for complex chords and solos. Its resonant peak of 7.3kHz adds warmth and depth. The bridge pickup is slightly hotter with a peak of 8.35kHz that provides tight, articulate bass and airy treble. Together, the neck and bridge pickups give you a blend of vintage sweetness and modern aggression that cuts through a mix.
Premium Build for Reliable Performance
Seymour Duncan is known for crafting high-quality pickups, and the Pearly Gates Humbucker set is no exception. The pickups feature bobbins made of molded ABS plastic for durability and consistent tone. Plain enamel wire, sandcast Alnico II magnets, and nickel silver bottom plates ensure signal integrity and reliability. The Pearly Gates set is also wax potted to reduce microphonics and handling noise. Overall, the premium components provide a pickup set you can depend on for gig after gig.

Open box sold as new
I purchased a matched set ( or so I thought) of Seymor Duncan Pearly Gates pickups. The packaging was shattered / cracked. The box consisted of two neck pickups, further evidence that this was not original packaging. Fortunately I checked both pickups prior to install, or the refund process would not have been so smooth. On balance the guitar center staff refunded my purchase price with no problem. They were very professional. The problem I have is that this merchandise should never have been offered as new merchandise based upon the packaging alone, and as there was not a matched set. Seymor Duncan pickups are awesome and sadly I was not able to make the installation of these pickups work.

Bought a set of Pearly Gates to replace the 490R/T set in a new SG Standard. The 490's sounded good, but I wanted more tonal variety. I replaced the PCB with 50's wiring and orange drop caps, as well as added push/pull volume pots for coil splitting. Very happy with the results. It is a versatile tone machine now. Seymour Duncan products never disappoint!
I would definitely buy this product again.

This is my second set of Pearly gates pickups. They are a perfect replacement for my Les Pauls. Awesome for hard classic rock and blues.

I've owned a few sets. Perfect for waking up a PRSs sterile tone, or giving an old Les Paul a new voice.
I would definitely buy this product again.

I needed new frets on my Ibanez Artist series solid body electric guitar. I took it to the Guitar Center in Mobile, Al. I had the nickel set installed with orange drop capacitor, new pots, and stainless frets with inlays. Dallas did an awesome job and it sounds incredible. It really brought new life to an 11 year old guitar.
Very even sounding.
