RANE
Description
The verdict is in: Serato Scratch Live by Rane is way more reliable and easier to use than earlier digital/vinyl interfaces. Using regular turntables or CD players, DJs can scratch and mix files from their Mac or Windows XP computer's CD or hard drive, add in a live mic input for scratching, and even bypass to standard vinyl if you wish. The Rane Serato's unique control screen gives you unprecedented realtime side-by-side visual command with color-coded frequencies so you can distinguish bass and snare hits for flawless beat matching. Serato Scratch Live even lets you control song selection from the vinyl.

The Rane Scratch Live SL 1 interface connects one or two standard vinyl or CD turntables to your computer. This extremely rugged, portable, high quality, bus-powered USB interface features 2 switchable phono or line inputs, a microphone input, 2 line outputs, and pass thru outputs for the phono/line and mic.

The DJ software comes with 12" vinyl records that each have a Serato exclusive control signal which allows Rane Serato Scratch Live to track the motion of the record, simulating the same movement with digital audio. Due to Serato's proprietary control scheme, the result is a feel and sound indistinguishable from playing vinyl. As a producer and DJ, the track you finished today can be played on a real turntable tonight. You'll never have to cut a dubplate again!

Serato is the best when going from club to club. Just take your macbook pro and plug in your sl1 box. Works wonders off of the CDJs 1000 mk3. If you add an E-Efects 1000 or 500 to the picture it is the most incredible setup you can get. The sound quality of the soundcard is very very high.

I have used this software for 3 yrs. now, & I love it.It was a big investment for me at the time I bought it, but it paid for itself soon after, and continues to payoff now. i have a partner who swore off computer djing but after using my setup w/ scratch live, he has made plans to purchase it himself.

I've been spinning vinyl since 1991. I've spun at lot's of undergrounds, warehouses, the old-skool raves and some seasonal clubs. I play Techno, Trance, House, Funk, 80's, Disco, Hip-hop, K-roq up to now. I like this system because I can store hundreds of song's without carrying all those crates except for latest releases which I like to spin on vinyl. But, all considering the serato is better than traktor system. I find it easy to use. But, you can only be a real DJ by mastering the art form on vinyl and on 1200's. people like to see the nostalgic turntables spinning! Eventually we all turn into prisoners of technology!

I stated as a hip-hop dj during the vinyl days because i didnt want to go out and spend mo ney on house and hip-hop, double the expense. So i stuck to hip-hop, reggae, rnb. Now with serato, the game has changed, the effect this one program has on the dj and music game is crazy. Record labels do not pres vinyl anymore, its strictly for the collector. I can play clubs, mobile, radio and do mixcda of all types because serato allows me to compact all my music digitally and utilize it in anyway possible for whatever my deejays needs are. This is the best possible investment you can make and you will never regret it. For the traveling deejay, no more lost records or records that didn't arrive with you or ended up somewhere else. Best money you will ever spend

I have been a DJ for over 20 years and Serato is the closest thing to working with real vinyl without all the back breaking labor of carrying crates. I purchased a competing product and could never get it to work to my expectations, so I finally bought Serato and it has brought a whole new dimension to the art of DJing. It works great with iTunes and makes it easy to organize and search for music to play. The program it self is designed with the DJ in mind form visual cue points that act like break cues on the vinyl, to auto BPM detection, and more. I am not a scratch DJ but with my eyes closed, I couldn't tell the difference between Serato and REAL vinyl, it is just that good.
