Great Starter for a Newbie DJ - I made money!

I play/sing in a band, and have been thinking about offering DJ Services since I already have all the sound gear and lights I need. So a new client having a home birthday party for his wife contacted me and wanted a DJ. So I offered up my services. Bought this little product and went to town learning and loading music on the lap top. I did the gig last night and it worked just like it was supposed to. No loops, scratches, etc involved since most of the music was played straight for the clients. For a first DJ job, went nicely and the pay was very good. I intend to get a better/bigger controller and likely move up to Serato DJ (the unit utilized Serato Lite now). But for loading and testing music on the laptop and editing titles, artists, etc, I'll likely keep and use this in my little studio room....plus for a lightweight backup. However I could get by this one for most gigs I would be doing. The only problems I had with the unit, was when I tried to listen to the other channel not being played to cue up the next song, the audio still came out the mains, but that may just be me, so just gotta figure that out. Also, not too easy to load files for the (only four) performance pads...but again for just playing the music straight, not an issue. For a first timer, studio prep and overall convenience a great unit.
Had a minor issue with the gain knob and volume.

It was a toss up between Numarks Dj to go 2 and the party mix. I'm glad I went and spent a few extra bucks on this one. Both units can be put in a computer bag with no problem. I like the options of the led light show. This option has a few modes and or you can turn it off altogether. Some may think it's a little cheezy, however for a quick setup it ads a nice touch. One big surprise was the sound card quality. I own a pioneer ddj sx2 and compared to this little package it comes out to be pretty good. The pad modes are nice, a little on the clicky side, but a nice little option of pad modes. The hot cues are sharp. As a suggestion I wish they were soft pads, but I still like the pad modes . Another nice feature in the test drive was the looping. It was real easy to do. The samples can only go as far as four which is ok for being compact. The crossover is nice, but has a slight drag which is still nice for the price. I was able to do a good remix with it. The gain can be turned down to completly to the point of no sound, I liked that. The volume glides are nice and the pitch glides are nice too. The option of having a scratch mode on both wheels is one of the main reasons I went for this unit. Cueing up is good. The jog wheels are very nice and free flowing, it makes the back breaking effect pretty cool. All in all I feel that this unit is very underated. I give it an all 5 star rating for anyone who is just starting to dj to the advanced and professional. As a professional, I enjoy working with this unit on the go.
