great quiet shakers

Probably not useful in a performance setting but great for practice at night. They are not very load but they have a pleasant sound and nice feel and will not disturb others. I also take them on hikes and practice rhythms.
Surprise shaker!

I recently purchased a few new shakers to get some different tones, colors. This little children's shaker is quiet as another reviewer has mentioned. However, I find the tone more than makes up for the lack of volume, depending, of course, on YOUR application. It is a most organic sounding little guy. I've had fun combining it with plastic eggs and with other wooden shakers. For the little $, it's a great addition to my percussion table.
Plastic is better

I bought the larger wood shaker thinking it would have a cool sound, but what I found was that I spent 8x more for pretty much a quieter version of the small plastic one. It's not as loud and doesn't have as good a feel as the plastic one either.

I love these little guys. They've got a good jangly/shakey quality and the wood gives a good tone that I prefer over the plastic shakers.
