Martin

collapse expand iconDescription

Luxe By Martin bridge pins are just another example of the company’s mission to constantly improve the tone and playability of our guitars. These high-tech pins are made from Liquidmetal, a Zirconium alloy, that reflects energy instead of absorbing it. The result is an increase in volume and sustain, without sacrificing the low-end, or richness, of the guitar’s tone. In addition, they are extremely durable and will last significantly longer than most bridge pins on the market today.

I highly recommend these for upgrading lower-end units

I installed these in my Martin X Series Special, and they immediately improved the sustain. The highs were brightened up a bit as well, but that was more noticeable once I installed the bone saddle afterwards. These look great, but fit a bit thicker than the stock pins that were in it. I may still need to sand out the pin holes just a bit. Considering slotting my bridge to see if that improves it even further. I wish they weren't so expensive, as that's the only reason for 4 stars.

Do NOT buy these metal bridge pins

Installed these on a new Martin D-41. These pints do not fully seat into the bridge. They are appreciably seating much higher than the original Martin pins. The first string, high E, has a terrible ring, incredibly annoying. All three strings are louder, but lacking the deep and full sound of a fine Martin Acoustic. DO NOT BUY THIS EXPENSIVE MARTIN LUXE (liquid metal) BRIDGE PIN SET.

  • Thinking about getting an Ebony set. These add so much!

Installed these, along with a new bone saddle, and new black, Grover Locking Tuners. The way my guitar sounds and looks now, is in incredible! These added a clarity and brightness that was immediately noticeable, and not present on the guitar prior to installation. I would highly recommend using these on any Martin, especially any "lower end" Martin to bring the specs up, per se; or other for that matter any guitar they'll fit.

  • They really work.

I have a set of these on a Martin 000-16 Street Master, and another set on a Taylor 322ce 12-fret. Both guitars already had excellent sustain, but both were lacking in midrange. Adding these pins improved the sound of both by bringing the midrange a bit more forward, and increasing the articulation on the Taylor.

  • I would buy these again.

You need to buy a set to try on all the guitars you want to improve the sound. Let's be frank, the guitars need to be expensive! I got my taste of these on a Martin D28 Modern Deluxe. So, I bought another set and tried them on a Martin HD28 Grand Marquis - nope!, a Martin SC13 - nope! But they sounded great on: Martin D12-20; a Goodall KCJC (Koa/Spruce) and a Taylor Presentation PS16. The bottom lie is get a set to see how they sound on your instruments and keep them for the ones that sound better! However they can't help cheaper guitars, for them, use brass pins.

I put them on my Martin HD 28 they fit perfectly. However, the sound was more on the trebly side, and the guitar sounded kind of teeny. I played with them for a week, and then I ended up, taking them out and returning them.

After watching several online video reviews I purchased a set of these for my Martin GP-18. They did help slightly with the overall tone and sustain. I do agree that they are overpriced. I have read reviews of these pins not fitting correctly. I'm assuming (without yet measuring} that these are closer to a traditional size and not the presentation size. in my opinion the manufacturers or dealers should state what exact size these are. I have read several reviews that stated these were too large, or larger than the purchasers' original pins.
