The Byzance Dark series cymblas are seriously unique! They have dark overtones to them but they're versital enough to play in any setting. If you're looking for an alternative to brighter lathed cymbals this is the way to go. I play typically rock, alternative, christian contemporary, and some pop and the Dark series give me what I'm looking for every time. In lighter songs the ride's tones are definitive from the edge to the bell and the crashes compliment it so well. About 2 months ago I bought 14" hats, 16" and 18" crashes and this 20" ride. The ride projects but when crashed it doesn't sound unnatural or overpowering. It's really the perfect blend of dark tones without being to dry. I like a nice high pitched ping from a bell and this ride delivers there too. I spent this past summer playing all the top brands looking to replace my old sheet cymbals and after much deliberation the Meinl's won out. The looks can't be beat either! They're hand hammered and don't show the marks that most lathed cymbals reveal after some playing. My 18" crash is used and is slightly less glossy looking than the new cymbals but the cymbals aren't "shiny" to begin with so it shows almost no wear. Under the lights these cymbals make my ebony PDP kit look very unique. Meinl's cymbals are simply inspiring! You need to try these!

This ride is the best ride I've ever used. I use a 21" for touring. It's gone on quite a few road trips with me, and I really trash my cymbals at shows. This ride has gone to hell and back and is still as beautiful as the day I got it. It has amazing dark tones like I've never heard in any other dark cymbal. The sustain is just the perfect amount, too. I would recommend this ride to anyone who wants a ride that isn't so bright.
