These drums are worth every penny!

I also waited over a year to come up with the cash for these drums. I changed from a Gretsch Catalina Maple. I was going to get the mohogany burst finish, but opted for red sparkle in the end (mostly because I got a great deal on a used one). But I'm so glad I did! Before I got them, I thought it was going to look a little gaudy, to be honest, but with the stage lighting, strobes, fog and other things, it fits right in and I've received many compliments on the look and sound from drummers and non-drummers alike. The pictures speak for themselves. I included 1 from a club with stage lights, etc and one from a regular room with basic lighting. As far as sound, I swapped the heads for Evans G1 on bottom and G2 on top. Aquarian Super kick is used on the batter side of bass drum and another muffle type Ludwig resonant head on bass drum. No pillow or blanket needed. Let's put it this way...For the first few shows, I had trouble staying focused on the songs I was playing because i was so amazed with the sound and feel of these drums. It feels like every drum hits you right in the chest. Even the Led Zeppelin recordings don't do justice for this kit. It's a feel and sound I haven't experienced with any other kit.

Underwhelmed

The drums arrived in boxes. We inspected the drums and noted several problems. Bearing edge is badly inconsistent. Both in the smoothness where contact is made with the head and on the thickness of the shell . On the bearing edge it undulates up and down beyond anything I have ever seen. The shell thickness is wavy around all of the drums, some much worse than others. Seems of the finish ply were separating near the edges. These things were noted on the invoice in store. 18 inch floor tom is out of round and required the hoop to have the head sit on the shell. Being primarily a studio musician this is unacceptable as tuning and tine are everything and so far I have not been able to keep this consistent. Therein filler in between the plies and voids at the bearing edge. The finish is generally nice, some ghost marks which appear to be where the plastic packaging was placed onto the not dry lacquer is evident on Bass drum ... you need to be looking for it. Hard ware seems ok, although the chrome on the 14inch tom mount is flaking off already. Disappointed.

    I ordered this set in the silver sparkle and not only pleasing to the eye but has the boom too. That 26 is a beast. I have Evans EC2 Frosted batter, ECReso resonant, bass drum has EMAD, no internal dampening except felt strip on resonant. Have the resonant on a high tune and batter on low/medium tune. Perfect for rock settings Only complaint is the washers used seem cheaper. I added nylon washers to lower the metal to metal friction and ease tuning. I'd recommend this kit

    So far I love this kit! The sound is massive and is great if you're going for a Zeppelin/Greta Van Fleet/Rock n' Roll sound. My kit is in the natural finish and looks very nice and pretty. The stock heads aren't bad either! Definitely will be used at my gigs!

    I ordered this kit during the 4th of July event. Arrived with a heavily damaged bearing edge on the kick. I was able to exchange it locally and found that all the other kits local to me had huge lacquer cracks in them. I decided to keep the kit and was offered a partial refund.

    I know these drums are mad in Taiwan, but it is their top of the line Asian made drums, and they are 100% North American maple. I got the natural because they look like Bonham's 1970 maple kit. They have some figuring on the outside of the shells, a lacquer finish, and sound killer!

    I’m sorry but no. Shell packs are only the drums. There is no hardware, cymbals or pedals included.
