Description
After years of research, more than 10 design iterations, and hundreds of test reeds issued, the American Cut is the most thoroughly developed reed Légère has ever produced. This extensive testing process was conducted for one purpose; to create a jazz reed that offers total performance freedom while delivering the dependability that Légère reeds have become known for.

The Legere synthetic saxophone reeds are responsive, great sound, not effected by moisture absorption, and very durable. I will no longer be using cane reeds.

I have struggled with cane reeds long enough. It is so nice to get good tone from the beginning and consistently. I have been playing cane reeds for years and wish I has went to these well before now. I will not go back to cane reeds.

Living here in Tennessee, I have had the worst time with my tenor reeds....it's likely that the extreme(and often very humid) weather has a lot to do with it....so I had tried a FiberReed at one time, but found it a bit bright and too easy to blow(probably a harder one would be good). I'd heard good things about these Legere reeds, so I decided to give one a try. It was immediately useful, played easily in all registers, had the type of tone I go for(though a touch brighter), so all I could say was...'wow'. I bought a Reed Geek at the same time to see if I could help some of the wood reeds in my reject pile...that was also useful, and I find that when I get a wood reed perfect, I prefer that...however, we know they don't stay perfect for all that long, so I'm planning on practicing with this reed, and I'll save good wood reeds in my case for recording and gigs...though...I could see myself just getting used to this too...... After 40 + years of playing, it's nice to know there is a reed that will just be consistent without all the fuss.
Yep, I bought it. Yep, I like it.

I double on saxes and clarinet. This means playing along on another instrument -- keyboards typically -- and then, in mid-song, grabbing the sax or clarinet and hoping it plays immediately. Cane reeds don't play well dry. That is a problem when I don't have time to get them wet. These Legere reeds not only sound wonderful and last, like, forever, relatively speaking, but they also play dry. Instantly. Every single stinking time. First note, assuming I am doing my part. I am doing away with cane reeds. This is the new me. I have tried every product line, and there are differences, but they all are excellent, and I am totally pleased. Thanks for asking.
