Description

Part of the new JBL PRX-800W series, the PRX812W presents all of the latest design and production advances developed by the research team at JBL. Created by industry leaders in loudspeaker technology, PRX812W features wireless control and sophisticated DSP, so live sound professionals and musicians can quickly set up and configure a system right from a mobile tablet. PRX812W also features class-leading power and a remarkably lightweight design that makes transportation easy. Thoughtfully designed from the ground up to deliver legendary JBL sound for demanding artists, PRX812W represents the next generation in controllable and portable live sound reinforcement.

PRX812W is the first PA system in its class to offer complete wireless control. The PRX Connect mobile app for iOS and Android connects wirelessly to each unit in the system simultaneously, providing full control over the powerful DSP built in to each speaker. With control over 8-band parametric EQ, speaker delay, mute, gain and more, PRX Connect helps musicians achieve the perfect sound for their performances, faster than ever before. Users can walk around the venue during sound check and fine-tune the speakers for optimal sound quality. PRX Connect also makes it easy to configure shows offline and save presets for fast future setup.

Featuring integrated 1500-watt Class-D power amplification along with a 12” Patented JBL Differential Drive™ woofer with reduced magnet mass and increased power handling. Updated tuning delivers flat frequency response and smooth off-axis behavior. The all-wood cabinets feature durable tongue-in-groove joints, tour-proven DuraFlex protective finish and dent-resistant 16-gauge steel grilles. PRX812 systems undergo a stringent testing regimen, including a 100-hour torture test, to ensure peak performance in any real-world environment. The combined result is an ultra-reliable and remarkably lightweight system capable of delivering clear, pristine audio at extraordinarily high volumes.

PRX812W loudspeakers are packed with innovations from HARMAN’s industry-leading live sound brands, introducing a new level of flexibility, scalability and sound quality to the portable PA category. The redesigned Crown input panel offers XLR, 1/4” and RCA inputs plus XLR loop-through and professional outputs to provide plenty of options for input sources and routing. dbx Type IV™ limiting eases the system back to a safe level when any frequency band is in limit, ensuring that the sound is accurate and uncompressed, even at very high volumes over long periods of time. An intelligent variable-speed fan cools the system only as needed to ensure optimal sound quality during quiet performances.

Very impressed so far. The app could use some work. Nice concept. Could use some software design follow through that matches the quality of the hardware. We can hope for updates/upgrades perhaps?

Why would they put an EQ into a PA speaker?! Even better one that requires a tablet to connect to the speaker for adjustment?! Out of the box it sounds like rotting dog bleep... and that's being kind. Bought this to use as floor monitors to supliment our PRX715's we've used as mains for 5+ years. Those, btw, are awesome! Great great sound. Which is why I didn't hesitate to pick up these 812's.... the 812 has been returned. If you're not picky and don't care how it sounds... just that it's louder than yelling... these bad boys are for you. If you actually like hearing good sounds... look into something else.

Best Buy Best Sound, I have had the prx712 and prx835 and decided to upgrade to the prx812w. This model has some improvements to the back panel and case. Very happy with purchase. If you have had the previous prx712/835 just to note the prx800 series the mic button is actually a 3 position attenuation- 1st position is light off, push and hold mic button 2nd time flashing light is 50% level and push and hold mic button steady light is 100% attenuation, this is the only difference from the previous model etc. I plan to buy more prx812w and a set of prx835's when I get a chance. I have had the previous PRX712 and upgraded to the PRX812w. The rear panel has been cleaned up, just to note the line level/mic button has 3 attenuation levels of which is not found in the manual. I found out when I hooked up the outputs of the mixer and the sound was very low compared with hookup to the prx712. I experimented by chance to hold the mic button it will go from no light (1st attenuation level) to flashing light (2nd attenuation level) which brought up the input volume 50%. By holding the mic button again (3rd attenuation level) the light stays on steady which attenuation is 100%. No where is this written, I just held by accident and realized there is 3 levels here and also which ever level you leave it on the unit will power back up to the last level you set it at. Overall better than the previous version and I have the PRX835W. Buy you either and you will be very happy, a long time JBP PRX Fan!!!

These speakers are one of the best in this prince range. People pay the exact amount of money for plastic construction and less quality built in speakers. Moreover, as far as the sound goes, they sound really good. The highs are less harsh than the prx700 and more clear. The mids are very clear, and the lows are a bit better on this new version. Overall I love the sound, it seems JBL fixed many of the minor issues of the previous models. The new wireless feature is a big plus for me since I love messing around with the sound, especially when I have to DJ in many different places.

Do I need an amplifier to run this speaker?

No. It has power on it's own.
