I am a guitar player that has always wanted to play bass more seriously. I have been learning to play slap bass. The SR500E is a great all-around instrument. The sounds you get from the pickups and EQ system really help to dial in any tone you want. The lightweight body and fast neck/fretboard make for a comfortable and ergonomic playing experience.
I am really pleased with my purchase.

Wow, I was lucky to get this. It was the last one! I've had two other basses and I like this one far better. Great color. After I bought it, I had one of the GC tech set it up properly and it sounds great. Lucky me!
Great sound, nice neck.

I was attracted to this bass because of the specs and reviews. After stopping at the local Guitar Center and checking it out, I found it nice and light compared to others and having a comfortable neck that worked for me. The pickups sounded great. After returning home and playing my cheaper bass, I knew I would no longer be satisfied and decided to buy the SR500e. Unfortunately the local guitar center only had a display model. It played great but had some sharp frets. I settled for it, figuring I could fix that myself. Love the sound and feel of this bass. A five star bass if you get one with good fretwork.

Beautiful looks and performance. Bartolini BH2 dual coil pickups are versatile with lows, mids and high controls onboard. Also has bridge and neck pickup switch with a passive/active switch. Bass holds a tune with the truss adjusted just right for me. After a year all is still good to go. During a recent visit to my local luthier, it was noted that everything was straight and true and the quality was a point of discussion. I'm happy with Ibanez and I have a new appreciation for the brand. I thought of the Ibanez line of guitars and basses as the people's instrument with good quality for beginners and some bar bands, but I was wrong to think that way - this bass is a quality one and if the set up isn't your cup of tea, it's probably a matter of changing out the Barts for your flavor of pickup. Add a pre-amp or peddle or whatever and you're in business the way you want because this bass has the freq resonance and material strength to be a dependable instrument. And it's not very expensive when compared to other bass brands with similar features.

beautiful bass. not flashy but very classy looking. sounds amazing with that active eq turned on and dialed in. i was looking at an sr400 but the neck on this thing sold me right away. VERY comfortable slim neck. plays like butter. the Bartolini's sound amazing. stays in tune for days (and i bang on the strings, bend like crazy, etc...).

How heavy is the Ibanez SR500E ?
All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbssubmitted4 years ago

I already bought this bass from guitar center, but I'm looking to get a volume pedal to go with it. Should I get an active or passive volume pedal to go with it? (25 or 250K?) Details says this bass has passive pickups, but not sure because it also has a preamp? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
The EQ is what is active, not the pups. Do you want to boost your volume or just control it? Please give us a call to better help you out – 855-770-3373submitted5 years ago
