Great tone - warm lows, but plenty of "whack 'em" as you push up the gain...
Great Tubes!

I needed the item right the way and could pick it up in the next day of the on line purchase. Customer service was great and the tube works perfectly.
Nice smooth sounding good quality tubes.

In my Antique Sound Labs headphone amp these tubes were a massive improvement over the Sovtek EL84 tubes. To me these tubes have great response, with warm tone. Bass wasn't boomy at all like I experienced with the Sovtek EL84. I wish I could compare these to the Sovtek EL84M but alas I do not have them. The Groove Tubes I have are the 7 rated ones that have normal or medium distortion.
Awesome sound

When I had to replace the tubes in my Crate V30 combo amp, I replaced with inexpensive tubes. The sound was very bright and I couldn't compensate enough with my amp eq. It was either overly bright or muddy. Replaced the tubes again with groove tubes(the same type that was in the amp originally) and man, what a difference. Love my amp's tone again. The groove tubes cost a lot more, but there were definitely worth the price. Very smooth sound.

Any chance these will work in place of 7189a?
That depends; the 7189 is designed for circuits operating in the 400 volt range. The EL84 is designed for the 300 volt range.submitted2 years ago

are (1-3) available instead of 7s? Also, are single tubes available? I only need one. If I buy a duet, will one of those work as a single?
Unfortunately, no. Yessubmitted4 years ago
