Gibson ES-335 '60s Block Electric Guitar | Demo and Overview with Molly Miller

Description
The Gibson ES-335 60s Block limited-edition semi-hollow electric guitar brings together the iconic feel and tone of the original ES-335 with key aesthetic and performance updates from the 1960s. This special edition model features small block inlays and a fast-playing SlimTaper neck profile, making it ideal for players who crave vintage flair with modern playability. Built in the USA with traditional Gibson craftsmanship, it delivers that sweet blend of warm semi-hollow resonance and solidbody-like sustain that made the ES-335 a legend.
Semi-Hollow Maple Body With Centerblock Sustain
This ES-335 features a 3-ply maple/poplar/maple construction with a solid maple centerblock, ensuring a rich, open acoustic tone with reduced feedback and impressive sustain. The body is paired with a lightly arched top and back, and traditional cream binding for a classic Gibson presentation. The semi-hollow design provides that signature midrange bite and hollow warmth, perfect for blues, rock and jazz alike.
SlimTaper Neck and Rosewood Fingerboard With Small Block Inlays
The neck on this model is carved to Gibson’s popular SlimTaper profile—fast, comfortable and ideal for expressive fretting across the board. The Indian rosewood fingerboard sports 22 medium-jumbo frets and distinctive small block inlays that were introduced in the 1960s as a stylish update to the earlier dot markers. Together, they create a perfect blend of visual character and ergonomic performance.
Vintage-Voiced Humbuckers With Modern Control
Dual calibrated T-Type humbuckers provide articulate, balanced tone with a vintage voice. Whether you’re playing clean jazz chords or overdriven blues solos, these pickups deliver that unmistakable Gibson sound. Individual volume and tone controls with matched potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors offer precise tonal sculpting. A three-way toggle switch rounds out the traditional control scheme.
Elegant Details and a Limited-Edition Build
Nickel hardware, vintage-style keystone tuners, and a lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece add classic appeal and tuning stability. This limited-edition ES-335 is a must-have for players and collectors seeking that authentic '60s aesthetic with modern refinement. Whether you're on stage or in the studio, this guitar delivers iconic looks and versatile tone in a refined package.

Beautiful guitar

I just love to play guitar. I don't play out anymore. Over the last 60 years, I've owned dozens of guitars, but my favorites have always been the ES335 and the Les Paul models. This is my most recent purchase. I love the walnut color. This guitar was setup nicely. Good intonation, neck relief, saddle and nut depths spot on. It's a joy to play and it sounds great. I use a Fender Princeton amplifier.
Don't let the neck description fool you, it feels great

I decided I really wanted a red ES335. I looked at the custom stuff and the figured tops, but I found one of these at my local shop with a beautiful natural maple top. Not figured, but lots of movement in the grain. The feel was good and the pick-ups sound great clean and even better dirty. I was a little worried about the description of the neck as a slim taper. I've played plenty of Fenders I just can't warm up to. It does feel maybe a fraction less chunky than the figured version, but the neck plays and feels great. I have big hands too. The set-up and finish were really good too. Really nice guitar. I'm late to the ES335 game after playing Les Pauls for the last 40 years. There was definitely room in my heart for both!
Wow, what a great guitar!

One of the best guitars I've played in a long time. The knobs are smooth and solid, the finish is fantastic. The frets are great and level. The pickups sound great, beefy and handle distortion really well. It's not as light as you would think for a semi Hollow Body but is a very comfortable weight. I've been recording with it and have zero problems!
Fantastic Guitar!

I bought mine about 2 months ago and play it everyday. The guitar has a great weight and tone. Not sure what lemon the other guy was playing but this guitar is awesome!
Epiphone quality at a Gibson price

Poor quality for a nearly $4k guitar. Played one on guitar center today and there are issues unacceptable for a guitar of this price: Some of it could be down to the setup, such as the high action, severe neck up-bow, and unleveled frets. The uneven, hacked fret nibs and binding though is ridiculous when a similar priced ESP comes from factory with a flawless setup and rounded fret edges. Lackluster pickups are the cherry on top of an overpriced instrument.

What size strings come stock on the ES 335 60's Block Limited-Edition? 9's or 10's? I bought one today at Guitar Center Fort Worth, and I was in a hurry because we had a show tonight and I didn't have them change the strings to my Elixir's. Guitar played amazing and sounded amazing like all my other 335's, but 6 songs into the show, the strings went dead. Need to replace them but I don't know what size strings came on it. Thanks.
