Shipping Costs Make Warranty Useless

I bought this case 3 months ago and just discovered a crack in it, even though it has neither left my home nor been treated roughly. Because it's more than 30 days since I purchased the case, I would have to pay shipping costs to have it fixed or replaced. Given the size and weight of the case, that's $45. My advice would be not to buy this case, but if you do, go over every inch of it carefully to make sure you find any defects within the first 30 days.
Gator GC-DREAD for my new Yamaha FG730

The test: the day after delivery, I checked my new case with my new guitar through baggage and customs at Chicago-O'Hare airport. A few minor dings on the outside of the case but not a mark on the cargo inside. The good: great fit, nice and tight with plenty of plush to cusion the ride. Enough room in the equipment box inside for my picks, tuner, and guitar strap with room to spare. The handle is well located for good balance and the case will stand on end or side without falling over. The bad: the latches are a little light for my preference but they stayed closed. The lock in very cheesey but does hold. Anybody with a screwdriver can unlatch with the case locked but anybody with a hand could walk away with the whole case so the lock exists only to keep the case closed during transport, it's not a theft deterrent. Judgement: does everything a case should do: it stays closed and protects what's inside. If you're doing the airport thing, this is the case. Stay away from wood and brittle plastic as they will break, and anything with a zipper will leak. The same as luggage. This plastic is forgiving enough to not break and solid enough for good protection.

I took this through O'Hare's baggage check, not a scratch on my precious.

I read a lot of reviews about this particular case. With Guitar Center offering a price match and shipping to my home, it was the best offer. I ordered at the store and all went smooth! The case arrived earlier than expected. I have used the case everyday for several weeks. The protection for my vintage guitar is assured.
