These strings have a bright punchy sound while slappin and poppin. You can get one mean growl from them too. These Earthwood Acoustic Bass strings have such playability to them, I am tempted to try them out on my 78 Fender P-Bass. I can't believe how effortless they are to play to get the precise sound you want from them. I've been a GHS user and abuser for most of my playing years and I have used Ernie Ball strings in the past, but nothing else they produce sound as fine as these strings. I'll probably never string my Electric/Acoustic Bass with anything else unless I hear rave reviews about another brand with a new product line targeted towards Electric Acoustic Bass Players. These Ernie Ball Earthwood bass strings are the best acoustic bass string I have played to date.

I replaced the original D'Addario EXPs on my Breedlove acoustic bass. I'm still experimenting with different strings, and I liked the name, "Earthwood," thinking I'd get a warm, woody tone for the acoustic bass. However, I find these to be metallic sounding, not nearly as warm and rich as my original strings. I've had them on the bass long enough to mellow out now, but still not a very warm tone.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2070 Earthwood Acoustic Bass Strings:

If you're undecided about strings for your acoustic bass, go for these, they're pretty much the best you can find. They're great for beginners as well as expert bassists who have just entered the world of acoustics. Go for these, they're well worth it and you won't be disappointed.

Sweet Tone

By Tim Stevens

from Tarpon Springs, FL

Comments about Ernie Ball 2070 Earthwood Acoustic Bass Strings:

I just replaced the D'Addario strings that came on my Michael Kelly bass with these Ernie Ball strings after reading the reviews. I am very pleased to say that the reviews are accurate. These strings still have enough brightness but without the twang. I like the mellower tone. These strings gave my guitar the voice I wanted.

Yuck

Comments about Ernie Ball 2070 Earthwood Acoustic Bass Strings:

I was so looking forward to putting these strings on my Ibanez acoustic bass after all the reviews I read. Unfortunately, I did not like them at all. Way too twangy and bright for me. I had to stop playing my guitar until I got different strings - not happy with these strings at all. If you like a twangy and REALLY bright sound, you might just like these. Definitely not for me, though.

Earthwood Acoustic

By Alexander Santiago

from Holiday, FL

Comments about Ernie Ball 2070 Earthwood Acoustic Bass Strings:

Switched to acoustic bass because I wanted to do something different. I love it and it such an amazing experience. I bought these Ernie Ball strings a couple a weeks ago. I knew the sound I wanted and I was hoping this strings would do just that. I've always bought Blue Steel strings for my electric bass and loved that, what I call a "Metallic Chorus" sound. That's exactly what I got with these strings. The bass sounds louder and when hitting those notes, it's just a beautiful ring. I highly recommend these strings to anyone that wants a great and amazing sound out of there acoustic bass.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2070 Earthwood Acoustic Bass Strings:

These strings are for acoustic bass are quite thick especially the E note that the sonority is very good and to the touch is good it is also important that the instrument is well adjusted especially the action due to the thickness of the strings

Worth Experiencing Pain To Hear These Strings!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2070 Earthwood Acoustic Bass Strings:

I had not replaced the original strings on the bass acoustic guitar I had purchased years ago, and was stunned at the tonal quality and sustain of the Earthwood Bass Strings. Arthritus in both hands (I've been playing for more than 40-years) had compelled me to stop playing, and I'd sold 3-of my electric basses, but the sound of these strings has me taking aspirin to ward off the pain just to listen to the amazing quality of these strings. Fantastic!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2070 Earthwood Acoustic Bass Strings:

I originally used D'addario phosphore bronze strings on my acoustic bass. They wore out quickly and didnt have a very balanced tone from string to string. I switched to DR ss flatwounds for a while and those were fun for practicing acoustically, but did not provide enough volume to compete with other instruments in an acoustic setting. I read a couple reviews suggesting these earthwoods. I strung them up and am very happy with the acoustic volume of these strings. They also have a very "strong/ bright" tone to them that i never experienced with d'addario phosphores. I have only had these strings a little over a week, so i can not speak about the lifespan of them yet. I will note, i got very used to the hard/ tight feel of flatwounds for a while and these strings are the exact opposite. Very loose feel to them. Maybe for my next set i will look into getting a different guage/ set to compensate for that. All in all, i would recommend these strings if youre looking for a loud, bright acoustic roundwound bass string.
