Epiphone

collapse expand iconDescription

The Epiphone Emperor Swingster excels in a wide range of genres, including jazz, blues, rockabilly, country and rock. This hollowbody has a 5-ply layered maple body, mahogany neck with a comfortable and fast-playing SlimTaper profile, Indian laurel fretboard with block inlays, mother-of-pearl Epiphone and Tree of Life inlays on the large Clipped Dove Wing headstock, Grover Rotomatic tuning machines and two Epiphone SwingBucker pickups, each with a dedicated volume and tone control.

The Emperor Swingers has push/pull switches built into each volume control to provide series/parallel switching for the pickups, and along with the 3-way toggle pickup selector switch, give you a broad selection of tonal options. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge is mounted on a pinned wooden base, so it won't move out of place when you use the licensed Bigsby vibrato with wire handle. Available in Forest Green Metallic with gold hardware, or Black Aged Gloss and DeltaBlue Metallic finishes with nickel hardware.

Bought at GC. Came with two high Frets, lots of buzz and very sharp fret edges. After GC setup it plays great and the Frets won't cut you. GC is submitting claim to epiphone to see if they will cover the cost. Not happy about the initial condition and repair cost, but very happy with the end result.

It was gre5out of the box. Setup seemed good, action was nice and low. Then, a month later, I changed strings. I now have a buzz on the first fret of the A (technically the 2nd is the culprit but fretting then1st reveals it) After a bunch of checking and adjusting, I can only assume that the nut was slotted too deep for the A, and instead of starting over with a new nut, they shimmed the slot. This shim fell out when I changed the strings and viola! Fret buzz. My fault for trusting Epiphone after their recent history of QC issues. I won't make the mistake again and now have to pay a luthier to replace the nut.
