Description
Redesigned with versatile, all-new independent dual-concentric controls that allow for gain and volume level matching, this 50-watt tube combo amp boasts three channels for any playing style— crisp cleans, raw crunch or searing leads.
Delivering a full-spectrum of tone, channel one features pristine cleans, channel two kicks in with overdrive and heavy gain similar to the EVH 5150III 100S, while channel three oozes with liquid distortion. Channels one and two each have dual concentric gain/volume controls, with shared EQ (low, mid, high). Channel three has its own gain, volume and EQ (low, mid, high) controls. All three channels also have global presence, resonance and reverb controls.
Loaded with dual 12” custom special designed EVH Celestion speakers to enhance and refine both your sound and your style, this combo amp also has seven JJ ECC83 (12AX7) preamp tubes, two JJ 6L6 power tubes and front-panel adjustable power output from 50 watts down to one watt.
Other features include a single input, rear-panel selectable output impedance (4, 8 or 16 ohms) with a pair of parallel speaker outputs, rear-panel MIDI input and preamp output, rear-panel effects loop and headphone jack (mutes power amp), and a four-button footswitch that controls all three channels and reverb for easy onstage switching.
The cabinet is constructed out of birch with special internal baffling for tight and increased bass response. Wrapped in stylish Black or Ivory vinyl, the EVH 5150III 50W 6L6 212 Combo is finished off with vintage-style chicken-knobs, red LED jewel indicator, molded black plastic top handle and pop-out casters. A high-quality fitted cover is available as an EVH Accessory.

This thing is an absolute BEAST! I've had it for about 2 weeks and I've had so much fun just tinkering around with this trying to dial in different sounds and tones with the settings. Channel 1 is very nice. The notes have unbelievable clarity and just ring out so well. Channel 2 is where the fun begins. Tweaking the EQ, set the gain around 9-10 o'clock and OMG! Like the late Eddie Van Halen stated, a good amp has to sound warm and have sustain, and boy does this have it! It helps so much that channels 1 and 2 have independent volume and gain, even though they share the same EQ but that is manageable. The reverb is a nice touch but I only add a little, like maybe between 7 and 8 O'clock but that's just my personal preference. The presence and resonance controls are very responsive and add such a sweet ingredient to whatever tone you're listening for. Channel 3? If you're a big heavy metal player, then that is the channel you want. Downright nasty, melt your face off distortion. It's WAY over the top for the type of music I play but it can indeed, be a metal monster. I would advise anyone that get's this, to purchase a noise gate pedal cause this thing IS noisy! I couldn't be happier with this and I look forward to using this on a few live gigs.
Excellent !!!

I have played and owned dozens of amplifiers: Peavey, Marshall, Mesa, Tube Works, Sunn, Fender...the list goes on. And also like many in the 80s and 90s I exclusively used rack gear. This amp blows most of them completely out of the water. For the money it rules them all. This is not the cleanest clean channel and honestly, why should it be? Thats probably not why you are buying this amp. It has good break up and covers all the ground from a gainey Fender to a Super Lead growl. The blue channel is pure magic, super responsive to your volume knob roll off, the gain stages are thick, precise, and have a texture that seems 3 dimensional. The red channel is metal as can be. Massive slabs of distortion, the perfect amount of compression and punch. Yes, it says EVH on it, but your own personal tone is in it. Get one and find out.
Best amp I've ever played for any genre

Best amp I've ever owned, all 3 channels sound great. Independent gain and level for 1 and 2 are game changers. Only cons are it's pretty heavy and clean is not as super clean on channel 1 even with gain pretty low but that's usually not why you'd be buying this amp anyway.
Very loud and fairly versatile

I play in a cover band, and I've always wanted an EVH amp but still needed something that could cover musical styles aside from metal. For the most part, I can play any style with it. The blue channel on this thing is great for anything from country, classic rock, hard rock, and metal. The red channel is full-on metal to the core. However, there are a few downsides. First off, the green channel is not a true clean channel as it breaks up very quickly once the gain gets over 2. Also, the green channel seems to lack low end. The fix for this is to first make sure your resonance is set high enough, as well as your low end and you may want to lower your presence and highs. Then set your gain between 3 and 5, then roll back your guitars' volume knob, then it should clean up nicely. Now if you turn the gain past 5 or max it out on the green channel, you can get some killer crunch tones. Also, this amp is VERY LOUD! At 50 watts it will still rival most 100 watt half stacks. If you need pristine fender type clean, this amp may not be for you, but that aside, it's amazing all around and will cover pretty much any style you can think of.
