If you do a lot of fast alternate picking, you really need to give these a shot. While the bright tone does tend to wear off after some use, the picks still sound good, just not as bright. Overall, the tortex material has excellent durability. If you do a lot of down picking as well like I do, you will want to learn to adjust the attack angle of your picking hand in order to avoid the scratchy sound, and achieve crisp down picking notes. But once you get used to the adjustment, it is a small price to pay in order to take advantage of the lightning fast, and silky smooth flow pick shape when it's time to burst into a face melting riff or solo. Some players prefer a more aggressive grip, but personally, I like a pick that won't slip around between my fingers, but will still allow me to adjust my grip for different holding techniques. The grip of the tortex is perfect for that. I have been using tortex picks for 20+ years because of this. 1.35mm is the perfect thickness for playing aggressive metal. I have a big bag full of all kinds of different picks that I have tried, and these are the ONLY ones I use for playing metal. These things are just built for it.
