Grew mold inside my guitar!

The first time I used this, within a week the sponge inside was growing mold. I hope I caught it early enough that it didn't damage my guitar. What an epic fail!! Threw it in the trash and will NEVER purchase again!
I like and use these.

These can help keep your instrument safe from drying out too much, if you add water every few days.
Would buy these again.

These I believe are good for climate control inside a soft case or gig bag. If maintained by fairly frequent watering with distilled water they will help your case guard against sudden changes in humidity. Once or twice a week may be enough under dry conditions. Slow changes are OK, sudden changes can cause damage to wooden instruments. As they say, what's comfortable for you will also be comfortable for your instrument. Of course, easing the string tension between sessions also will help.

When you are using the humidifier, can you close your case with the guitar and the humidifier in place?

How does this work? Does it go inside the guitar? Does it stay in there all the time? Can you keep guitars humidified by using an in room humidifier?
It goes in there during storage. It is to be removed while playing. It works the same way that a room humidifier does, just more compact.Yes, it stays inside the guitar. While you could use a room humidifier, this is more reliable and consistent. Room humidifiers have a tendency to create a high humidity and are more difficult to control.
