collapse expand iconDescription

Developed in conjunction with Cindy Blackman, the 22" K Zildjian Dark Medium Ride is designed to perform in rock and jazz settings with equal effectiveness. This cymbal features a large bell for excellent projection in rock settings, and special hammering and lathing to open up the cymbal for broad tonal complexities in jazz settings. Exclusive "pin" lathing enhances the crashability and gives the cymbal a distinct appearance reminiscent of 1960's era K Zildjians.

this is a great cymbal. im in love with the dark tone. it's very complex. has a really good stick definition, but its not too pingy. it speaks quickly, very controllable. its one of those rides that you can hit super hard and it doesn't create that unbearably loud ear piercing sound that other rides sometimes do. when you ride on it with your stick tip, it creates a very nice, shimmering wash underneath that nice stick sound. when you start to wail on it a little more with the shoulder of the stick, it definately opens up to a beautiful mellow, dark, buttery wall of sound that isnt too loud. that's what i love about this cymbal, you can hit it really hard and push it to its limits, and it doesnt distort or get out of hand. the bell is nice and loud, low pitched, and sounds great. because of how controllable and quick-speaking this cymbal is, its very crashable. perfect ride if you like to crash on it too. like i said, speaks very quickly with a beautiful mellow burst of sound, and then shimmers away quickly, but not too quickly. this cymbal is perfect in my opinion.

First symbol was scared and returned. The second was also scared. They have no quality control.

I play many different styles so I needed a versatile ride to perform great in each situation. This pulled through with flying colors. Great stick definition and the wash is outstanding. Great dark, warm tones but plenty of ping where needed. The bell is great also. Much louder than what you may think but it cuts through easily when needed. Great loud, full sustained crash when you need that extra "umph" behind those snarling guitars. The sound of perfection in any kind of rock, blues, and jazz. Never lets you down.

  • a must have in a cymbal collection!
