Description

Zildjian proudly presents the A Series 391 Cymbal Pack With Free 18" Crash. This expansive cymbal pack provides a full range of tones for versatile drumming in any genre. It includes 14" A New Beat hi-hats, renowned for their crisp articulation and controllable pitch; a 16" A Medium Thin crash to provide bright accents; and a 21" A Sweet Ride that sings with balanced sustain and definition. As an added bonus, Zildjian includes a free 18" A Medium Thin crash for broader sonic range.

Legendary A Zildjian Alloy for Warmth and Clarity

Each cymbal in the A Series 391 pack is cast from Zildjian's proprietary A Zildjian bronze alloy, which has been the foundation of their instruments for nearly 400 years. This alloy produces cymbals with a warm, rounded tone, clear pitch and long sustain. The result is a set of cymbals that can achieve a range of sounds, from soft and breathy to loud and cutting.

14" A New Beat Hi-Hats: Crisp Articulation and Control

The included pair of 14" A New Beat hi-hats provide crisp articulation and a controllable pitch ideal for many playing styles. Their medium-thin weight allows for quick response while still producing rich overtones. The New Beats cut through dense mixes with ease yet remain versatile enough for softer genres.

Diverse Crashes Provide Accent and Expression

With a 16" A Medium Thin crash and a bonus 18" A Medium Thin crash, drummers have an array of tones for accents and expression. The 16" crash produces a bright, splashy sound with a quick decay suitable for tight rhythmic passages. The 18" crash opens up the sonic palette with a broader, fuller crash that lingers slightly longer. Together, these crashes allow for maximum dynamic contrast.

21" A Sweet Ride: The Perfect All-Purpose Ride

Serving as the centerpiece of the set, the 21" A Sweet Ride provides balanced, musical sustain with clear stick definition. Its medium weight and size make it ideal as an all-purpose ride for most styles of music. With its classic A Zildjian sound, the Sweet Ride cuts through live mixes when needed but can also provide subtle undertones for softer playing.

Zildjian A Customs

I have been recording for decades, and have always had relatively inexpensive cymbals as I usually am not the primary drummer (and drummers will bring their own cymbals). I spoke with a Zildjian endorsed artist about wanting an upgrade, and he recommended the A Customs for a sound that would be a good all-around workhorse for lots of genres. He was right on the money. The difference in tonal quality, decay, etc. brings things to another level and the results (especially in recordings) are well worth the expense compared to cheap cymbals.

Both crashes cracked in a few months!

Let me first say that the hats and 21" Sweet ride have been fantastic. Definitely had never been a big regular A fan (played Ks and A Customs), but the Sweet Ride won me over. We bought these for our worship team at church and had them only for 3-5 months when both crashes cracked. I had been the only person playing at the time, as it was during the pandemic and we had reduced personnel. I've only cracked 2 crashes in my life, and the shortest amount of time it took to crack was over 8 years when I was gigging regularly and playing in a rock band. Shortly after the second crash cracked I compared it to the first and it was in the exact same place (see pictures). Prevailing logic would say that it was a manufacturing defect, no way you could break two brand new cymbals in less than a year in the EXACT SAME PLACE. Enter Asurion. DO NOT EVER BUY THE GUITAR CENTER ASURION INSURANCE! What a racket. After going back and forth with them for months because they "couldn't read the serial number" on the cymbals, our tech manager finally gave up, as the year long coverage lapsed. The pictures you see weren't the ones we provided with the serial, they were much closer and even more clear. Wish we wouldn't have wasted the money on the insurance and only bought the ride and hats.

A Zildjians never disappoint. I play rock, funk and fusion and these cymbals perform in every setting. The 21" sweet ride is incredible. The New Beats have always been my go to for hi hats. And the medium thin 16" crash cuts through everything. Still getting used to the 18" medium thin, but no complaints.
