Description

The YC73 73-Key Organ Stage Keyboard combines authentic organ sounds with modern features ideal for live playing. This full-sized keyboard is packed with nine realistic organ sounds, including tonewheel, transistor, pipe organ voices, as well as piano, synth, and ensemble sounds. With 73 semi-weighted keys, the YC73 provides a balanced playing feel for organ technique and piano-style playing. Powerful features like real-time controls, an intuitive user interface, and advanced connectivity options give you full command over your sound during performance. Whether you're playing jazz, rock, worship, or pop music, the YC73 is a gig-ready keyboard that delivers iconic organ tones and modern sound-shaping tools.

Authentic Tonewheel, Pipe, and Transistor Organ Sounds

The YC73 features Yamaha's acclaimed Virtual Circuitry Modeling technology to capture the nuanced tones of vintage tonewheel, pipe, and transistor organs with stunning realism. Select from tones modeled on the Hammond B3, C3, and M3, as well as pipe and transistor organs. Adjustable overdrive, percussion, key click, and rotary speaker effects provide full sonic control.

Semi-Weighted Keys and Organ Playing Modes

With 73 semi-weighted keys, the YC73 offers balanced playability for organ technique and piano playing. Two organ playing modes—upper and lower—split the keyboard to facilitate bass lines and chords in the left hand and melody in the right. The lower manual mode even provides an adjustable split point.

Advanced Real-Time Controls

Nine assignable sliders, six buttons, and a modulation wheel put expressive control at your fingertips. Assign the drawbars, rotary speed, overdrive, reverb, and other effects to the sliders and buttons. The modulation wheel controls rotary speed or other effects. Save your assignments to two user presets for instant recall during performances.

Intuitive Interface and Connectivity

An easy-to-read LCD display and dedicated buttons make navigating the YC73's features simple. USB to Host and MIDI I/O ports offer connectivity to computers, tablets, and other gear. The YC73 runs on AC power or batteries for portability.

Fantastic sounds but wish it came with waterfall action

I picked up a YC73 a few days after purchasing a YC61 which I absolutely love (see my YC61 review for a lot more info especially regarding sounds, features, & playability) but found myself running out of keys on each side.  I've been a longtime 73 key keyboard user, but didn't buy the YC73 at first because as an organ player, I much prefer waterfall action (as well as a lighter more compact keyboard that is easier to gig with) which sadly isn't available on the YC73 (if so, it would be my perfect keyboard!) As soon as I unboxed the YC73, I was immediately put off by its heft in comparison to its little brother the YC61.  While ~30lbs is completely respectable for a keyboard with a weighted keybed, in comparison to my Nord Stage 73 & Hammond XK Pro 73, the additional weight makes the YC73 more difficult to transport since it's too heavy to be worn in a backpack soft case and needs to be put in a heavier duty case with wheels. While I think this trade off is totally worth it for piano players, I would have much preferred a 73 key version of the significantly lighter & more portable YC61 with waterfall keys, as I found the BH action to be too slow & cumbersome to be able to play quickly & effortlessly & not worth having a keyboard that weighs twice as much, as well as being quite a bit thicker as well (making it unusable to put on the keyboard tray of my Output desk which only supports keyboards up to 4 1/2" tall.) A 73key version of the YC61 would also likely be significantly lighter, making it way more portable & easier to play as well probably one of the lightest 73 key semi-weighted keyboards in it's class - yamaha if you're reading this, please release a 73 key waterfall version of the YC - I will buy it in a heartbeat!!

    YC73 Black Key Issue

I returned my YC73 yesterday. Potentially all the YC73's are broken. All the keys but the black keys in particular does not respond correct on repeated playing. Search youtube "Yamaha YC73 keybed issue" and you can see my demonstration of the problem. I do not know what to buy instead - Nord is the only contender at this point - I would have kept it if it had been working.

I have owned a lot of different keyboards over the years, flagship Rolands, Korgs, Nords, and a back in the day the iconic DX7. The YC73 is the most intuitive, fun to play keyboard I have ever enjoyed. The organs are amazing. Eps are great. The stage pianos leave a little to be desired, but I expected that. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Not as many features as my existing 88-key stage piano but I wanted something lighter (easier to move around), smaller (easier to fit onto a smaller stage), yet with good piano sounds and reasonable action. The YC73 is the perfect solution on all counts. There is a nice selection of voices, the organ section is very usable, and the ability to stack effects and make real time adjustments is very straight forward. Storing and accessing live sets is quick and easy.

This keyboard is amazing. The built in sounds are fantastic. For gigs, this machine is easy to utilize and has great on the fly functionality. #SWEEPSTAKES

Really like the action and the ability to route most functions to various controllers (pedals, 'wheel', etc). A bit concerned that my middle C & D have gone clacky after only a few months. In terms of firmware updates, more split points would be nice.

    • Great sounding keyboard!
