  • Yamaha P5000S: One year later...

I am a sound guy. My crew and I work small to medium events with my own gear, and I have occasionally worked large events. I am currently studying Live Sound and Audio Engineering (4.0 student). I purchased the Yamaha P5000S because it was specifically designed to match the Yamaha C115V's I purchased when a local club upgraded. After a full year of usage (over 400 hours of use) I have developed a sense that it (and the C115V's) will never break or need to be replaced. I know this cannot realistically be the case, but I will posit that ensuring proper signal flow and using a decent power conditioner will allow the amp to operate superbly for many years. I use the C115V's with this amplifier as stage monitors, but for smaller and indoor medium-sized programs the matched set is sufficient for main speaker sound delivery. I use the P7000S for my subs (SW218Vx2) and mains (C215Vx2). I would rate their bang/buck ratio VERY favorably.
