Yamaha

Description

Yamaha's NTX500 is a modern-designed acoustic-electric nylon string guitar with a thin body depth and a slim-profile neck for easy playability. Its ergonomically friendly design is perfect for playing Latin, jazz, pop or rock music. Yamaha's exclusive under-saddle pickup provides solid and cut-through plugged-in sound for when you are playing live with a band and need to be heard over the mix.

A.R.T (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) Pickup/Preamp System
Yamaha's A.R.T. pickup system is used on a number of Yamaha's steel string guitars and has received high acclaim for its superb sound quality, incredible dynamics and outstanding feedback rejection. Yamaha's engineers designed the A.R.T. System 61 especially for the NX/NXT Series, to faithfully reproduce the tone and dynamics of nylon strings. Combining a number of exclusive technologies, the A.R.T. system affords the NX/NTX Series the versality to accommodate an incredible range of playing styles from fingerstyle to pick to percussive flamenco, all while retaining the natural tone of the guitar.

Newly Developed Contact Pickup
A conventional contact pickup mounted underneath the saddle vibrates freely allowing it to pick up the natural body sound. On the other hand, it can pick up too much body sound resulting in feedback making positioning difficult. By comparison the A.R.T. system used on the NX Series guitars utilizes a multilayer damper in order to absorb excessive vibrations and control feedback. System 61 consists of two pickups mounted on the high and low sides of the guitar, each with its own control to provide the NX Series guitars with flexible tone tailoring. -

Newly Developed Preamp System
Complementing the characteristic warmth and full mid-range tone of the nylon string guitar, the System 61 preamp uses Yamaha's class-leading technology to offer an easily controllable, wide tonal range, making the sound of the NX perfect for any show or playing style. The preamp offers indivisual volume control for both pickups, delivering a totally natural sound with robust lows and clear highs. A built-in 3-band EQ offers powerful sound shaping while an onboard tuner provides excellent usability during performance.

NX/NTX Series
Combining a contemporary design with meticulous attention to detail, the NX Series offers the superb playability and feel of an authentic classical guitar in a modern instrument. The NX Series comprises two lineups: NCX guitars, with classical style fingerboards, neck shape, and body thickness, and the thinner-bodied NTX lineup with a narrower neck and 14th fret neck joint. A.R.T. pickup system perfectly captures the warm resonant tone, allowing you to bring the unmistakable nylon string sound to a diverse range of genres, from latin to jazz, pop to rock.

I would buy this again

NTX series office a slimmer version than classical and the NTX 700 and above are all slimmer. But the NTX 500 here is supposedly even slimmer. My old APX nylon is just beautiful and slimmer than this but by a little. Yamaha makes some of the best inexpensive instruments. The NTX 500 is solidly built I've only had it a few weeks it sounds beautiful acoustic or electric. I highly recommend nylon electrics they have their own punch for anything from Acoustic rock to performance To leads. I would take the APX over this but they are only slightly different it's in my opinion for the money the best nylon electric you could get I think even a classical or jazz player would find this neck comfortable. For rock folk players it will feel very full but very easy to play My experience with Yamaha instruments is that they last and stay in tune My old APX after 20 years has maybe internation problems at the 14th fret. that is why I may return the NTX though in general I would certainly buy this guitar again GC had an amazing deal on it I need to get rid of instruments not buy! then again I plugged it in and spent five hours playing it without many tuning issues the first day and as we know as musicians we can't put a price on inspiration. Musician friends and audience have commented on my Yamaha nylon in the past both sound and appearance I just don't think you can go wrong.

unremarkable for a yamaha

An odd mix of radius style fret board, and flat non-compensated saddle. Well built, but not without some issues. Incorrectly strung, simple fix but why waste the time to do it wrong. White powdery polish in every nook and cranny. Sound is only ok, plugged in or not. Owned four yamaha classical style guitars over the years, and this one falls short. I will keep it and continue working out the bugs. End of fretboard at soundhole very rough and unfinished. Love yamaha guitars. At best this will be a friend i will tolerate because of the good old days.

I picked up this guitar on stupid deal of the day. What a great purchase! I really enjoy the way the neck feels and tuning is pretty stable. Haven't plugged in yet but I'm sure Yamaha makes a nice preamp as well

Value packed a/e classical. Looks fantastic in black. Simple, no frills. Good sound both plugged in and acoustic. Decent projection for a thin body cutaway model (14 fret). This guitar needs a setup once you get it home. Playable mostly. I love this gig guitar from Yamaha. I got the stupid deal of the day, and I'm pleased.

  • I love my guitar.

Why do you and other sites continue to mislead saying this has the ART preamp. This model does NOT have that. It has the system 73. Somebody needs to edit this before you get sued.

I am looking for am acoustic that is not as loud as my dreadnought to play in the living room. I am a beginner, playing Johnny Cash type stuff. I'm not looking to plug it in, just something to play and not fill the whole house with sound when I practice.

This will be a great model for those purposes
