MODX+ Overview

Yamaha's Tech Talk: Introducing MODX+

Description
The Yamaha MODX7+ 76-key synthesizer delivers cutting-edge sound technology in a compact and versatile format, making it a standout choice for keyboardists seeking professional-grade performance. Combining Yamaha's renowned AMW2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) and FM-X synthesis engines, this model creates stunning emulative acoustic sounds alongside highly programmable synthesized tones. With 128 notes of polyphony for each engine, players can craft intricate, layered soundscapes without limitations. Its 76-note semi-weighted, synth-action keybed offers excellent responsiveness, accommodating both expressive solos and rhythmic passages. Designed for live performers and studio creators alike, the MODX7+ provides the tools to push sonic boundaries while maintaining exceptional playability.
Dual Synthesis Engines for Sonic Exploration
The MODX7+ synthesizer features Yamaha's AMW2 and FM-X synthesis engines, creating an expansive sound palette for any creative endeavor. The AMW2 engine compresses large amounts of data without sacrificing sound quality, producing lifelike acoustic instruments, drums and textures. Complementing this is the FM-X engine, capable of generating harmonically rich and dynamic sounds, from classic FM tones to innovative electronic textures. Together, these engines enable musicians to design sounds ranging from traditional orchestral instruments to futuristic synth layers, ensuring every performance is both dynamic and inspiring.
Motion Control Technology for Dynamic Soundscapes
This model introduces Yamaha's Motion Control technology, designed to elevate sound manipulation and performance expressivity. The Super Knob allows simultaneous control of up to 128 parameters, providing real-time modulation over mix functions, filters, LFOs and more. Motion Sequences offer tempo-synchronized, customizable control sequences that can alter nearly any synthesizer parameter. These tools enable players to add rhythmic and dynamic complexity to their sounds, fostering a personalized and immersive performance experience. Whether shaping ambient textures or driving pulsating grooves, Motion Control technology ensures unparalleled creative flexibility.
Compact Design With Road-Ready Build
The MODX7+ synthesizer is crafted with portability in mind, offering a modern design that is significantly lighter than comparable keyboards. Its semi-weighted keybed provides excellent playability while maintaining a slim profile suited for travel. The streamlined chassis simplifies load-ins and setups, making it ideal for gigging musicians who need reliability without bulk. Despite its lightweight construction, this instrument retains the power and durability demanded by professional players. The portable design ensures both ease of transport and road-ready resilience for consistent performance.
A Synthesizer for Players Seeking Advanced Sound Design
The Yamaha MODX7+ is perfect for musicians looking to explore complex sound design in a portable format. Its dual synthesis engines, Motion Control technology and lightweight build make it an excellent choice for performers and studio creators alike. Whether you're crafting intricate arrangements or delivering dynamic live performances, this synthesizer offers the tools and responsiveness needed to inspire your next musical breakthrough.

I've owned lots of Yamaha gear with no issues. This keyboard is built like a low end Casio. Flimsy and the action is horrible. It came with a missing knob. Even with the knob, this would have been returned. It's just bad. I'll be looking for another board as my 2nd. Boo Yamaha
Yes I would buy this Item again.

The sounds are fantastic, and there's room to grow. The USB audio being a built in usable channel along with the internal sound engine makes for a great base that you can add an odd sound or use a plugin. You don't have to though. There's a good version of just about everything in there. They throw in another piano expansion after you register it. The keys on it feel a lot like my hydra synth.

Is weighted keyboard the same as semi weighted seen elsewhere? For the Modx7 plus?
No, probably not the same. . I don't know what your reference is. Everyone wants to imitate the weighted keys of an acoustic piano. Every manufacturer has there own way of doing it. This will have a 'stiffer' feel than a regular synth. A synth typically has no weight at all, much like an organ.submitted2 years ago

What kind of rebate are you offering, and does Yamaha still offer the sustain pedal and (I forgot what) something else if bought this year? Thanks, I'm very interested. I've been playing an EX5 since I bought it new. Ready for a change.
