Design

    We use these with our Alesis drum set, for quiet practice sessions. They are really comfortable & play sound well. Thy are a little heavy if you're worried about that at all. We did buy an adapter for the end if you want to plug it into your amp or other things. The set hasn't let us down. #sweepstakes

    I went through a lot of headphones to get to these, and I'm so glad that I never settled because these are the ones for me! My search began when I hadn't bought a new pair of cans for years, and my old Audio-Technicas finally gave out. I started with the ATH-M50s, an updated model of the ones I had, and didn't like them - felt tight and my ears felt like they were in a well - something changed over the years I guess. Then tried the Beyerdynamic DT 770s which were highly recommended, sounded way bright to my ears and felt tight, heavy, bulky and uncomfortable. I started researching headphones quite a bit and what I was seeing was a bunch of companies focused on reinventing the look of the headphones, and not so much on the quality and comfort of them. For tracking music, I don't need some space-age looking gear with a hundred doo-hickeys tacked on all over - I just want a simple pair of black cans that are as small and lightweight as possible. Once I saw these Yamahas I knew I found something I might be able to wrap my head around (or wrap around my head :). Pros: They are lightweight, minimally designed, and comfortable to wear. They sound great - not hyped at all to my ears, no high end sheen, about as honest of a playback as you can get They are Yamahas! And anyone who knows Yamaha gear knows that they build to the highest quality at any given price point - you get every dollar you spend with Yamaha equipment. Cons: The cord comes wrapped up in very small bunches as expected, but I find that it is hard to retrain the cord to go straight - wish they would roll it in a circle or something so it wouldn't be prone to crunching up. Over long periods of time they can get a little uncomfortable, maybe could be a tad less tight and a tad lighter, but that may not be possible and eveyone's head is shaped different, so it's something I can live with - definitely the most comfortable pair of cans I've had. Overall: Highly recommend these over more recommended brands

    Are the cables straight 1/8 to 1/8 connectors. Could any 1/8 to 1/8 be substituted for the originals?
