I started out several years ago with a PSR-700---then graduated to a PSR-910---I had seen the Tyros 5 and was very impressed---but wanted to wait and see what was next---our house flooded in Hurricane Harvey and as soon as we got our house back together --I purchased the Genos in May of 2018--this is the greatest musical keyboard I have ever played--- a long time ago my Dad owned a Music Store and he started out as a Hammond organ dealer---later became a Yamaha Piano & Organ dealer--- I grew up taking Organ lessons and in the family business-- the Yamaha product is unbeatable-- the sounds that come out of this keyboard are unbelievable--the styles of play are like having the best musicians in the world playing with you when ever you want them.-- I consider myself a hobbyist ---but --man what a Great hobby! I spend countess hours playing this and seem to find something new every time I sit down to play--Sometimes while playing this after playing a song---I just can't believe what I am hearing---I am thinking--How did they create something like this?---Amazing Sound--Great Quality---worth every penny that I paid---I have the Genos hooked up to 2 Yamaha HS7s & a JBL Subwoofer---Sound is incredible---all I can say is----Thank you-YAMAHA

Absolutely amazing versatility with sterling sound reproduction. I use it alone and occasionally on top of my B3. It is everything claimed and demonstrated in the Yamaha Genos videos. Had my Genos a year and have yet to discover and utilize all the features and functions. More that satisfied with this purchase. Worth every penny without question.

This keyboard has unbelievable realistic sounds. Simple to use for a workstation. The price may not be cheap but you're getting what you paid for and considering Yamahas reliability you'll probably have it for the rest of your life working fine.

Does this keyboard have built in recording studio? Can you aslo backup yourself after recording?
It has playback, but it's limited. You can do playback, but as for layering you can play along with one layer, but you can't do more than one at a time.submitted7 years ago

Are the keys on this instrument weighted? I'm am accomplished classical pianist and the feel of the keys is very important. If they're not appropriate for an advanced player, can you recommend another equally functional workstation that is?
They are not weighted, however, they do have touch sensitivity. Yamaha Dx7 or Dx9. Or the Roland Juno 60 would be good substitutes.submitted7 years ago

I've been looking for something that will tell me the differences between the Montage 8 and the Genos. All the youtube vids show that both instruments sound awesome. So, could you please compare and contrast the two instruments?
So, WRT Montage and Genos being somewhat different. If you're a sound designer, Montage. If you're more into covers, Genos. It comes down to personal needs and process.
