Description

The Yamaha FG5 Gloss Dreadnought acoustic guitar builds on Yamaha's renowned legacy, offering a balance of vintage style and advanced features for today's musicians. This Japanese-made instrument is part of the Red Label series, inspired by the classic models of the 1960s. With a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, the FG5 delivers rich, resonant tones with a punchy low-end, perfect for strumming. The gloss finish and vintage-inspired aesthetics give it an authentic throwback look, while Yamaha's A.R.E (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) treatment ensures the wood performs like aged tonewoods, offering remarkable sustain and depth in every note.

Vintage Style With Modern Tonewoods

Featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, the FG5 delivers a full-bodied tone that excels at open chords and strummed rhythms. The A.R.E. treatment enhances the wood's natural aging process, providing a rich, warm tone that typically takes years to develop. This dreadnought-style guitar offers a punchy low-end, detailed mids, and sparkling highs, making it ideal for a wide range of musical styles.

Enhanced Playability and Craftsmanship

With its African mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard, the FG5 offers smooth playability and a comfortable feel across the fretboard. The bone nut and saddle, along with ebony bridge pins, contribute to excellent tuning stability and enhanced resonance. Whether you're in the studio or performing live, this guitar is built to deliver consistently great tone and playability.

Designed for Serious Musicians

The FG5 is a trusted workhorse for guitarists who need a reliable instrument for every performance, writing session, or studio recording. Its vintage-inspired design and advanced tonal enhancements make it a standout option for players seeking the sound and feel of an expertly crafted acoustic guitar without sacrificing modern playability.

I've had a Yamaha FG-TA for two years, and a Martin 000-18 for a year. I love both of this guitars and have wanted a made in Japan Yamaha dreadnought to add to the collection. The FG5 came in perfect shape. The setup needed no adjustments. The exquisite special hard shell case was a bonus. I knew from the first strum that this was a "keeper" despite GC's 45 day return policy. For those of you who get it, the smell through the sound hole is intoxicating :)
