Yamaha DTX522K Electronic Drum Set

.DTX502 series Features .

Utilizing the DTX-PAD snare for superior stick feel, you can play the head, open rimshot, and closed rimshot voices in each of the three zones for authentic snare expression. This model also features 3-zone operation for the ride, crash and hi-hat. The drums and percussion voices in the new DTX502 module lets you sound your absolute best, and with the advanced practice tools and easy song recorder you will be getting better all the time. The USB port allows control over VSTi software and lets you import custom wave files.
Using proprietary laser technology to analyze drum strokes, Yamaha precisely tuned the trigger settings on the DTX502 series resulting in a more natural feeling with laser accuracy. You also get advanced features from higher end models like cymbal muting, natural cymbal swells, and smoother snare drumrolls so the kits respond to every nuance of your playing, and 3-Zone hi-hat technology when using the PCY100 as a hi-hat pad.
The DTX522K also features the professional 3-zone cymbal pads, which can express a different sound in each of the cup, bow and edge zones. These cymbals have a good stick feel and low acoustic noise, which is essential for electronic drums when used for private practice. In addition to a very natural swaying motion, they also have the "choke" function 360-degrees around the edge. You can even mute the cymbal before striking it - a DTX exclusive feature!
New drum training functions are included to challenge you no matter your current skill level every time you practice. Working with these tools will help you improve the most important skills for drumming from rhythmic timing to pad accuracy and endurance. The system will even generate a score so you can track your progress as you improve.
The DTX502 module can be expanded with four additional pads or triggers. Pad upgrades let you build your dream kit as your skills improve. USB connectivity lets you connect to a PC.

Very nice kit
I am a hobbyist who played on real drums many years ago & I really like the feel of this set. The snare is fabulous for feel and the 3 zones function like you would expect on a snare. Setup was relatively easy. The only improvement I could come up with is better wiring management. It isn't "bad" the way it is, it just could be better. I would have preferred the wires to run inside the stand tubes or have more connection points to keep it clean. The sound module is great and the selection of sets exceeded my expectation. It takes surprisingly little time to get the hang of using the controls to do all the basics you need. The learning modes are nice, but not as helpful as I expected...maybe I haven't used them enough yet, I just tried them each out once so far. Overall the DTX522 feels and sounds high quality and it is fun to play.

Do yourself a favor and purchase the Yamaha DTX532K Electronic Drum Set not this. Imagine for a moment playing a set with a "high hat" but without a hi hat stand. It is totally illogical to the way we play. Yes, the Yamaha DTX532K is roughly $400.00 more, but this is an investment so make it worth your while and money. If you don't have the extra $400 then save up until you do, otherwise you will regret it. The reason I am harping on the Yamaha DTX532K is because it is a more natural transition between acoustic sets and electronic sets - whereas this transition would be not only jarring for player but ultimately disappointing. You see, an electronic set can have the greatest sounds in the world but if it isn't "fun to play" what's the point? I promise it will feel like a child's toy more than a professional set. Additionally, look around online a little and chances are very very high you will find sellers that offer a bundle at no additional cost. The bundle I bought from a different seller included a (quality) gibralter kick drum peddle, a yamaha drum-throne, headphones (with 1/8 to 1/4th adapter), drum sticks, and free 3 day shipping. I am not a shill reviewer. Simply trying to save people from making the mistake I almost made and have watched many friends make. Spend the extra cash for a quality kit. Do your homework and you will find better deals for a set with a bunch of add-ons the big boys will never offer. Not to mention better customer service.

Great kit, great playability, module triggers very good Get the free iOS app and tune your drum sound, mix n match kits, get new free kits and other stuff to load on the module. Kick pad does work with a double petal, I have a pearl double kick petal hooked up to it This thing also triggers vst very well, I'm using addictive drums2. I blend the module output with the addictive drums output and get a nice realistic feel and sound Happy drumming here Peace all

I bought this set for my school Rock, and jazz bands. It sounds very good. But in 3 weeks I had to have the bass replaced. Then the ride went out (not replaced). Now the hi hat is not responding well. Support has been ok but.... I have always been a Yamaha fan, from Keys, Bass , and drums. Just not real happy with this one. I might have just gotten a bad set from the go. It is only played 4 times per week around an hour each time.

I playing professionally on several sets; Ludwig, Pearl, Sonor Yamaha. I bought the DTXpress several yes ago and wanted to upgrade. I was very impressed with the DTXpress sound and quality that I automatically went to look at Yamaha's DTX 500 series kits. The price was right within my budget and the quality surpassing anything out there that's comparable. You can't go wrong with this kit for either playing live gigs, recording or just rehearsing.
How can you not love this?

I've played guitar for ten years and decided that it was time to learn to play the drums. This kit is a great learning tool as the built-in training functions are everything you could ask for. As noted, I have zero experience with drums, but it's hard to imagine anything more fun to bang on (you know exactly what I mean!). If you're seeking an edrum kit to learn on, just buy this one and be happy

Just upgraded from older Roland V-kit. This Yamaha kit is very responsive. The built in drums sound are slightly better than DAW plugins. I use this with iMac/garageband and it triggers the kits perfectly, including gentle vs. strong hits and all cymbal censors. No connection issues at all, which is most important to me; just plug and play.

Can you connect bluetooth headphones or do you need to plug headphones into the jack?
As far as I can tell it doesn't come with Bluetooth capabilities so it would have to be the headphone jack.
