Maple Custom Kit

Yamaha

Description

The DTX400 series electronic drums bring Yamaha quality and technology to a new level of affordability. The DTX430K is powered by the DTX400 module that features 169 professional acoustic drum and percussion sounds with Accent Articulation for dynamic expression. Play along to 10 songs and customize 10 kits to match your style. Or practice with interactive training functions featuring Voice Guidance.

The pads feature oversized 10" ride, hi-hat and crash cymbals, while the 7" drum pads have been redesigned for greater playability, authenticity and durability. As far as hardware goes, the DTX430K includes a Yamaha FP6110 belt-drive bass drum pedal and a KP65 kick pad that provide an authentic kick drum feel. The remote HH65 hi-hat controller pedal allows "half-open" hi-hat sounds for expression usually found on much higher priced kits. A steel rack delivers a solid framework for your playing experience.

Fantastic

I just want to say, if you're looking for a set you can connect to your computer and use as a midi controller. this is it. the included drum module connects and converts to midi via usb cable and the yamaha midi drivers. which means you still get the sensitivity of light to heavy hits on all pads and cymbals. They say this is an entry level kit but I don't see what more you could want for an ekit under 1k. The 10 kits included are alright, theres only like 2 that are top notch. The drum mute feature is great for beginners because you can easily practice with preloaded songs the module comes with, and not only that but you can turn on the metronome at any tempo. The kick isn't to noisy either which is good for some overnight playing. Overall this is a fantastic kit and I couldn't be anymore happy with my purchase. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Entry level

This isn't a bad kit. But to guide buyers more appropriately, if you've played drums prior and intuitively know you'll want play a good kit, this isn't for you. If you've never played drums whatsoever and you're 15 years old, this is a great kit to the absolute beginner. Otherwise, [sarcasim] play the pots and pans in the kitchen and save your cash one more year for something like the DTX500 or 750. The module is even better. Call-outs that I dislike on this kit: --ONLY 10 drum kits. Guitar Center advertises this kit a little midleading. I've yet to see the 169 sounds, though Yamaha says you can only "mix" them, but this module is a simple 1-10 programming setup, that's it. -- The cables used for the drums/tom1/2, cymbal etc, are seemingly very cheap and fragile. -- The cymbals do not have stop action and are small. The kit is small in general, but the cymbals have irritated me. Otherwise, the structure is stable, and that's a plus but overall, DESIGNED FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER and who if learns to carry a beat in 5 months (which they'll likely do), this kit will then not be suitable.

The kit would be good if it had a kick pad you could rely on. Breaking down on a gig is acceptable. As for the warranty deal I was mislead from the salesperson and that was a total disaster I will never ever use again!

I have used many Yamaha products from musical instruments, entertainment systems, outboard motors, jet ski's, motorcycles, etc. This is absolutely the worst product I have ever purchased the contains the Yamaha name. Why? Two triggers did not work. Two others had horrible crackling sounds even after replacing with my high quality cables. The module is a joke. This kit is like a Rockband set. Latency, poor processing and horrible sound. It will make you want to stop playing.

What I/O does it have? Can less than the full set be used for practice? I like industrial music, and I'm looking for a way to just keep kick, snare, and high hat, without having to pack up the whole kit when going to a friend's to jam. Possible?

    Open Reply - Ronald
The main portion of the cables join into the same plug port. You can disable portions of the drums, but with the cord setup you would have to at least have part of the cables going to it.
