Overall I think the mixer is great for my first digital mixer. One of the reasons why I got this was the size factor with the amount of controls it offers. I did wish it did offer, some of the things I see what other mixers offer, but for the I/O & size it doesn't need what some slightly bigger consoles offer. I'm learning a lot about live stage mixer with this console at home, hopefully I'll be able to put some of this knowledge to use in the upcoming season. The only con I can think of is, and it's not really too big of a con, but more it would have been nice, if the there was to add Dante into Standard as an upgrade card. The software in the Standard shows it, so it can only makes me wonder that it's missing the card internally with the ports externally.

Everything is great about this mixer, But - the screen is very dark, I have updated firmware to 3.0. and stll the screen is not very bright. I do alot of outdoor gigs and I am unable to see the screen for any adjustments. My Presonus Series III is totally useable, even in daylight!

I'm using this for live music application. I love the sound quality and most of its easy use. The only problem I have is some of the network connections and info. Yamaha should have more online videos for network/daw setup. The manuals are very vague on the networking and network setup.

It is compact and easy to use. What blew me away is that you are able to put presets for certain microphones and instruments. Saving a scene is easy and it is very convenient. Another incredible tool was the gain finder. It looks like a guitar tuner so that one can find the ideal gain and can prevent overload. It is a little heavier than expected, but because it is a SOLID device which is amazing. This is a great mixer and it has worked well for our gigs. We are a 5 piece Mexican Norteño band, and this has helped us a lot.

I bought this product as my first dive into digital mixers. It's been great so far. Very intuitive to use even if you've never used a digital mixer before. Looking forward to using it for live production for my upcoming events.

Love this mixer. I mainly run sound for live theatre, so it's perfect for my needs. My question is where are the 4 extra channels? It's advertised as a 22-channel mixer, but with 16 physical ins and a USB stereo source (for BGM I assume), where are the 4 other channels?

As for the channel count, Yamaha’s “22-channel” spec is a bit of marketing math that includes all possible input sources. Here's the breakdown: 16 physical XLR/TRS combo inputs (Inputs 1–16). 2 stereo FX return channels (these can be considered inputs when using internal effects). 2-channel USB playback input (usually used for BGM, like you said). 1 stereo input from the stereo line-in (RCA or mini-jack depending on model/config). So that adds up to: 16 mono inputs. 2 stereo inputs (USB + analog line-in) = 4 more channels. (sometimes the stereo FX returns are also counted, pushing it to 24 if you're being generous). Basically, Yamaha is counting digital and stereo inputs alongside physical ones. It’s totally normal for digital mixers to inflate input count this way. It doesn’t mean you can run 22 mics at once—but you can have 22 discrete input sources managed through the mixer.
