Great set for my needs. I did upgrade the foot pedals for more accurate response for the high hats and the kick drum. Love the sound quality. Four stars only because of the foot switches.

A few things to get out of the way. The unit ( which operates on batteries) does NOT come with auxiliary power cord. Second, to make it sound like real drums and not a toy, you need to play through headphones or a dedicated drum amp. The on board speakers don't cut it. Third, to play effectively you need a snare stand. Playing on a table top is possible but not ideal for good drumming. Finally the kick drum button and high hat button are not reliable timing wise unless you really stomp on them. I replaced them with Yamaha K-100 and DD 65 foot pedals. The snare stand, floor pedals and drum amp allow this set to reproduce a full drum set sound with speed and accuracy. However to move all this equipment and a drum throne, I use/need a 29" rolling suitcase but it's still a lot more portable than a full drum set acoustic or e-drum. Recommended for as a compact portable unit for practice, jamming or small venues..

I am learning to play drums but we don't have room for an actual drum kit, so I am interested in this product. But I am left handed and of course most everything in the world is set up for right handed people. Can these pads be set up to play left handed?

        Open Reply - Ronald
Yes you can. You can change which pad makes which sound.

I am 50 years old and the last time I touched a real snare was when I was about 12 yo. Since then, I have never picked up a drum set or really know squat about drums. I simply want to bang stuff up and maybe be able to play a rhythm eventually. Is this good enough or is the Roland a better machine for my mid life crisis and urge to bang some sick sticks.

This would be a good choice, especially if space is a factor.

Are the drum pads assignable? Can I like, make my own kit? Specifically, assigning bass drum and high hat to pads.

        Open Reply - Charles
