My previous piano was a CLP-775, recommended by a NYU music student in the graduate program. It was and is a fantastic instrument, but the CLP-795gp has an action closer to an acoustic grand piano...I won't compare it to any of the big names here because I am chastised whenever doing that, but try it yourself at your local dealer and then try one of the "big names" and see what you think...just comparing the action/touch might surprise you. The audio will depend on how it is configured (see below). It is easy to see why there seems to be a lot of confusion from new CLP-7x5 owners about the parameters since it is easy to feel overwhelmed when looking at the large numbers of options. The tablet app was not that helpful for me, so I relied on setting options from the keyboard interface and then saving the ones best suited for a specific performance. Here is what I found: To get started, just select from the control panel option on the left-side of the keys, "PIANO ROOM" (no, I am not yelling, it is actually all caps!). There, you will find a few manageable choices to get you going and a few more to get the sound and feel to your liking. If you still feel overwhelmed, then just start with a piano type from the control menu: Yamaha CFX Grand or Bösendorfer. As you play, you might find there are things you want to do which are not in the limited Piano Room options. That's when you can start digging into the detailed configurations. It helped that I know an audio engineer. By the way, he was very impressed with the technical configuration selections and found some interacting parameters which made a substantial difference in the sound. So, that said, it would be nice if there was a "Yamaha CLP-7x5 for Dummies" handbook. There is so much you can do with this hybrid piano. And there are so many interactions between the generated tones, the body, the pedals, and on and on. Visitors who see the beautiful CLP-795gp cabinet n

My wife and I replaced our Yamaha G1Baby Grand that we loved. It is a loud instrument and we wanted to be able to control the volume and maintain the sound of a acoustic piano. The CLP 795gp was our replacement and it has worked out great so far. My wife is the main piano player and loves the headphones feature. I showed it to a friend that is a school music teacher. He looked under the cover for the strings! We haven't used all the extra keyboard sounds yet but have appreciated that being a bonus. Time will tell the electronics life vs no need for electricity with the acoustic instrument. We are liking it a lot!

This instrument is gorgeous and I'm not just saying that because of the #sweepstakes. It's enjoyable to look at and an absolute pleasure to play. The speakers deliver a robust, genuine and realistic 'grand piano' sound. The keys feel like the real thing. The headset output could be a bit louder especially when compared to the speakers volume level. The Smart Pianist app makes it a breeze to operate and with the added recording and notations options, you have everything you need!

The action is even and responsive. The sampled voices are realistic and practicing with the headphones puts me in the concert hall. I spend more time every day with this piano than I did with it's predecessor, which was a 1927 Steinway 5'8" model L.
