Yamaha Clavinova CLP-725 Digital Piano Overview

Yamaha

Description

The Yamaha Clavinova CLP-725 digital piano provides an unrivaled acoustic experience for beginners and experienced players alike. This entry-level Clavinova features Yamaha's renowned CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano samples and GrandTouch-S keyboard action with 88 weighted keys and escapement for a remarkably realistic feel.

Authentic Grand Piano Tones

The CLP-725 utilizes high-definition Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano samples for rich, dynamic tones across the entire keyboard. The binaural CFX sampling creates a stunningly immersive experience when using headphones. Advanced features like key-off samples, damper resonance and string resonance further enhance the piano's expressiveness and nuance.

GrandTouch-S Keyboard for Superior Feel

The GrandTouch-S keyboard has 88 weighted keys with escapement for precise control and feedback. The keys have a heavier touch in the lower register and lighter touch in the upper register, just like an acoustic grand piano. The escapement mechanism recreates the "click" felt when pressing a key, providing highly accurate response for pianists at any skill level.

Built-in Songs, Rhythms and Recording

The CLP-725 comes with an array of built-in songs, rhythms and recording capabilities to inspire creativity and support skill development. Listen to 50 preset songs or practice with 176 rhythms. Use the recording function to capture and review your performances. Connect to Yamaha's free Chord Tracker app to learn proper fingering.

Modern Design

With a contemporary design focused on simplicity and elegance, the CLP-725 complements any space. Its compact size lets you place it almost anywhere while high-quality, durable materials ensure lasting beauty. The matching bench provides comfortable, ergonomic seating for long practice sessions.

I've played all my life until selling my piano to move into an apartment. This digital is an excellent compromise for me. I play almost every day and find it very easy to use. I would not use many of the extra features the more expensive pianos have since I play mostly for my own enjoyment.

  • Key action is decent, speakers not so much

Coming from an acoustic grand piano, the action on this instrument feels pretty decent and certainly not something that impeded my practice. The advertised escapement mechanism in the keys is so subtle it's basically nonexistent. Compared to the escapement on an acoustic grand, I could barely feel it at all here, even when I was deliberately looking for it by just slowly depressing a single key. Other than that, it feels fine. On the other hand, the built-in speakers are atrocious. They sound muffled and unrealistic, to the point that I've heard better from a laptop speaker. Luckily, plugging in headphones produces much more acceptable sound quality, but it's sad that the built-in speakers are this neglected.

Although a stand and pedals are pictured, the words "stand" or "pedal" are no where in the item description. Does it come with the stand and pedals or are those sold separately? Need to know before purchasing. Thanks.
