Yamaha's Japanese Handmade Concert Cutaway Rosewood Back and Sides Acoustic Electric Guitar is a premium acoustic-electric that delivers powerful, balanced tone with a touch of vintage character. Handmade in Japan using select tonewoods and high-quality components, this concert-sized guitar is designed to gratify advanced players.

Torrefied Solid Sitka Spruce Top Provides Vintage Warmth

At the heart of this guitar's full, articulate tone is a solid Sitka spruce top treated using Yamaha's torrefaction technology. This high-heat process removes moisture and volatiles from the wood, resulting in a top with greater stability and an aged, vintage hue. The torrefied spruce top produces warm, balanced tone across the tonal spectrum, from ringing highs to full lows.

Rosewood Back and Sides Enhance Low-Mid Ranges

Solid rosewood is prized for use in acoustic guitars due to its ability to produce warm, rounded tone with clear, bell-like highs. The rosewood back and sides of this guitar enhance the low-mid ranges, providing a robust voice that complements the torrefied spruce top. Together, these premium tonewoods achieve a powerful yet balanced acoustic voice with vintage character.

SRT2 Pickup System Delivers Natural Plugged-In Tone

Yamaha's innovative SRT2 pickup system gives this guitar a natural, dynamic plugged-in tone perfect for performance and recording. With blend control, you can balance the output from the under-bridge piezo pickup with modeled sounds of vintage Neumann and Royer microphones, creating your own unique tone with authentic clarity. The SRT2 system provides volume, treble and bass controls with feedback reduction for versatile amplified performance.

Premium Build and Playability

As expected of a handmade Japanese guitar, premium build quality and playability are hallmarks of this instrument. The comfortable neck profile, ebony fingerboard and hand-rolled fingerboard edges provide a played-in feel ideal for intricate techniques and open tunings. Simple yet distinctive styling, including wood binding and an organic pickguard design, complements the vintage tone and premium construction.

I decieded to bring my martin d 16e in to see if there was anything to trade for. of course there ia a limited supply now. i walked in to the acoustic room with the better guitars in it and they had one of these, used, ont the wall. at first it sounded a bit harsh, but the eq was way off. it was in perfect condition and had the ugly pickguard removed. long storey short, i did the trade and am so glad i did. after owning maybe 35 acoustic electrics over 50 yrs of playing, this is the best sounding, build quality, musical guitar i have ever owned. the pickup is surperb. My 1st real acoustic was a yamaha fg 180, should have stayed in that family

What a joy to finally own a superb acoustic guitar. Yamaha makes quality instruments which are such a solid value. I am at late beginner/early intermediate level and have never dropped the cash to buy a high quality acoustic such as this. Glad I finally did it.

I am a former weekend warrior, with 20+ years of playing out. I have an old Yamaha L10a, so my expectations were high. Initially, the out of box setup was terrible, I almost sent it back. But the guitar is simply beautiful, and the tone was amazing. I took a couple of weeks and tweaked in the setup. Now she plays like a dream, and sounds even better. Loud, balanced, articulate, complex.

Picked up this little guy to round out my collection, stayed away from the A5R because I already have 3 Dreadnoughts and wanted a smaller body for performance feedback reduction, and more treble mid balance in the sound. WOW! This thing has the best projection I have ever heard for a small body and is louder than 1 of my 2 Martin Dreadnoughts, this is likely due to the depth of the body, the ARE torrefaction process, and Scalloped bracing. I heard the old ones were much quieter before the scalloped bracing and ARE treatment, not the case here! The built in preamp has amazing automatic feedback reduction which means I can play bass notes right next to my amp, without any rumble, buzz, or feedback. The microphone modeling does a great job of copying a microphone sound while plugged in, and the controls give you a lot of range over the sound onboard. Tonally this is a very balanced Rosewood guitar, it has surprising bass, and it doesn't overwhelm the mid and treble. If the ideal guitar had perfect balance of tone high to low, this is pretty darn close to it! The neck is slightly thicker than the Taylor and Martin low profile, but extremely playable and makes the 1 11/16 nut feel more like 1 3/4 playability so for those of us who have fat fingers this will feel fast with enough room for you to chord easily. Low action, no fret buzz. This is almost a perfect guitar, and it rings out. It's not an old school Martin sounding guitar, kind of sounds like a louder Taylor guitar, with deeper bass. This thing would cost between $2,600 to $3,200 in Martin and Taylors line up, yet you may like it better!

I'm just an intermediate guitar player, and frankly I'm really awful, but I know a quality guitar when I play one. A little disappointed in the plastic bridge pins, I immediately changed them to Tusq pins, vast improvement. Set up is very nice out of the box.

I am thinking about 2 Yamaha guitar models and want to know couple of difference between
FSX5 and AC5R. Both are same price, similar sizes. I know AC5R is cut away. Pick up system on the guitars, which one is newer or better? FSX5 has 3knobs and AC5R has 4knobs. What is your recommendations for guitars and electronics?
