Fellow friends of mine who are professional musicians told me not to get this. I didn't listen, and I ended up buying the thing. I thought it sounded pretty decent, but when I got to take it home and play with it, I was disappointed. My friends were right. The amp sounded very thin and brittle. It didn't have the fullness and the warmth that old Vox's had. When I cranked up the top boost, the distortion just sounded like a clean tone with some fuzz on top. It did not sound cool at all. This thing also gets very noisy when you plug in your pedals. BTW, it's already noisey as it is, but it gets distinctively noisey when you use pedals with this amp. I don't recommend this to anyone. It does sound decent and still has that Vox sound. But it sounds cheap and doesn�ۡ���t have enough headroom. If you are looking for that true Vox sound with the warm, full, chimey sound, get one that was made in England. That's what I did. I ended up returning this amp and got an ac15 made in England off of ebay. This custom classic doesnt even compare to the English Vox amp.

I've always been a huge VOX fan and the new models aren't half bad... don't expect the classic EF86 tone but it still sounds 'VOXY'. For the price I think these are one of the best amps for rock players... they have a GREAT clean to crunch tone and stay really sweet if you don't push them full tilt. The reverb is sweet sounding as well as the trem (not that I use it much). I think the cheaper version (as opposed to the AlNiCo Blue version) does a great job of delivering good tone at a low price... made in China though and I haven't see many used ones that didn't show some kind of signs of falling to pieces. I don't know that they are all that reliable either... I guess you can't have good tone AND reliability for this price!

l got this amp about a month ago i got this amp and it was one of the best buys ive ever made, it has claassic tube tone with a vintage feel. the clean is amazing and sounds alot like the lead guitar in sweet home alabama. when you have distortion on, it makes a prettty good sound for a lot of zz top and the free bird solo. the only down side to it is it takes a crane to lift it but you can fix it easily by putting casters on it. it is amazingly loud for it's wattage and i can play gigs with it when the volume is only turned at ten o clock. i think it is an amazing amp overal.

I purchased this amp after lugging around a Fender 410 Deville. Don't get me wrong, the Deville is great, but it gets old hauling it to band practice and small gigs. This amp fit the bill perfectly. It is a great price point for the Vox name, and sounds great as well. I am also a harmonica player and use this amp to plug my 50's EV mic into. The sound is amazing! For larger shows, you may have to mic this amp because it tends to break up heavier at higher volumes. All-in-all a great amp, buy it. You'll be glad you did.

This is my first tube amp, and it was well worth the upgrade. These 15 watts go a long way - it sounds great practicing at low volumes, and even better cranked up playing with a band. Sparkling cleans with loads of personality and crunchy overdrive that'll knock your socks off. Gets darn loud, and the tremolo is a vox classic. The reverb is good, not great (can't compete with a fender for some great reverb). It sounds amazing with pedals! I chose this over a fender hot rod deluxe, also a great amp - but this thing had tone that couldn't be topped, especially in this price range.
