The American Jazz 6 and the Jojo Mayer signature model are the finest sticks I have played in my 38 years as a performer. Well crafted, great balance and pitch matching.

I have the aj5. I prefer that the shoulder to the tip be heavier. I find that front of the stick is too light. I feel that I cannot play faster. They are bouncy. I wish that they would offer something of a heavier nature. Can anyone make a recommendations'?

I have several sizes and styles of Vic Firth sticks, and they are always reliable and perform well. I have tried other brands and I end up giving them to Goodwill. Vic Firth sticks feel great in the hands with no annoying vibration sometimes quite obvious with other brands. I no longer purchase anything other than Vic Firth. I am no great drummer but regardless, nothing is more important than the sticks you use. They must feel good, be well balanced, even, the right weight for the task and last a decent amount of time. Other sticks are somewhat "gimmicky" with the worst ones sending shockwaves up your arms. I experimented with other brands but finally realized nothing compared to Vic Firth.

I have tried other sticks and never liked any of them. I have different sizes of Vic Firth sticks, not just their "jazz" sticks, and ALL of them perform well. They are reliable.

Lightweight, articulate sticks that offer a nice precise sound on the ride cymbal. You can get a big sound with these sticks, but they excel at lower dynamics. Works great with my jazz combo, but can also get loud when they need to.

This review is for the AJ3. I've now tried seemingly every drumstick in existence and concluded that the AJ3 is the perfect stick for me. The taper/rebound is phenomenal. The weight balance is amazing, as with all of the AJ sticks. This one seems to sit in the sweet spot in terms of size, with the 1 and 2 being a bit too beefy for me, the 4 and 5 being too thin, and the 6 being excellent but very specialized in its design. The tip is ultra-articulate and not overpowering on thin cymbals. I wish Vic Firth would make maple versions of this line, as I love the light feel and woody, airy sound of maple. But until then, these will do.

Does Vic Firth make a nylon tip stick with the same dimensions as the AJ6? I love these sticks but the tips wear quickly and I end up with like 20 pair unusable just because the the tip wears out.
