Seymour Duncan

Description

The Duncan Distortion is Seymour Duncan's original high-output passive humbucker pickup, and this particular pickup is a bridge version with Trembucker spacing. It incorporates a massive ceramic magnet and hot coil windings to deliver powerful but balanced rock and metal tones with rich upper-midrange harmonic content. Lows strings are tight and mean while the high strings scream with harmonics, making it a go-to pickup for hard-hitting crunch rhythms and blazing lead tones.

Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA, factory, the Distortion uses a large ceramic bar magnet, nickel-silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.

So many rockstars use the Seymour Duncan Distortion bridge. Its stupid good. You'll like it more the an ice cream cone, at the zoo. I like pickles, chairs, and extravagant architecture. I'm scared of ceiling fans. 66 left, whew! I play sludge and jazz, and calming flute. 9 le..

Awesome pickup, it was really easy to install, took about 30 minutes. It sounds vaguely like a mix between the Gibson 498T and the Gibson Dirty Fingers in my opinion. super clear and hot.

  • I recommend this pickup. High quality all around.

I bought mine used but still I highly recommend this pickup to anyone who want to get hi gain tone of voice in their guitars without adding pedals to their gig. This pickup will do that and then some. Plus it gets very loud at lower volumes as well so you don't have to crank up the amp volume to get good lead tone. I have a Crate Vintage Club 50 watt -1x15 combo from the 90's, a vintage Marshall lead 12 combo solid state amp from the 80's and another vintage Alamo Embassy amp from the 70's and they all sound good through the Duncan Distortion pickup. I got the uncovered pickup to go into my 2011 Gibson SG Melody Maker to make it crank up better and it did the trick well. If you want an American Duncan pickup with a ceramic magnet to crank up a clean amp than this is the pickup to do that. I have played a Duncan Designed Detonator and this by far surpasses that in quality and tone of voice.

Will this pickup give me a good Metallica "chugging" Hetfield sound. Am replacing anemic bridge pickup on a new Firefly LP.
